any ideas on HD tuner box w/ pvr or dvd recording?

Couple of options...one should work well. 1. Search Fleabay for DVD recorders with ATSC tuners 2. Try and score an LG-LST 3410A (it's a tuner with a hard drive) 3. Consider the Coolsat 8100 HD or Sonicview 8000 HD All of it is gonna be pricey except for the PC option. Get a robust PC...

CS 8100 HD problem with analog shutoff

Problem solved in FTA forum due to this being a Coolsat 8100 issue in the 1st place. Thanks for the help.

CS 8100 HD problem with analog shutoff

I tried that already. I called the engineer at the station and asked him if they changed ANYTHING in the MPEG stream and he said no. It just seems so weird that it happens on the day of DTV switchover.

CS 8100 HD problem with analog shutoff

One of the TV stations decided to pull some crap on their end that now causes my Coolsat 8100 HD to reboot everytime I try to scan it in. WSFL-DT Really odd. I hope the 8100 HD gets new software soon.

    The analog shutdown party thread

Still going down as we speak. Analogs are dropping like flies here in the Miami-FTL market. I'm gaining signal strength on distant signals which is REALLY making me happy right now. I'm seeing strength on channels that I never knew I could get before. It's going to be a lovely day (said...

    Noob with ??'s

Most TV signals are horizontal. (If not all) I'd get the MANT950. If space allows and you have signals in 2 directions, you may need a 2nd antenna. Give me a moment and I'll TV fool this for myself. EDIT: Moments later, I can see that you have signals coming from different directions...

    Digital subchannels

If we are going to have more subchannels (like ION affiliates, listen up!) Put something better on TV! Sorry to rant like this, but bandwidth SHOULDN'T be taken up by garbage programming! I had hope when The Tube was on the air back in the day, but now I'm VERY disappointed.

    USDTV HT-7012 Box

I'm re-hashing this. I just acquired 2 more boxes. One powers up, another doesn't. Has anyone used these boxes before? Is it worth buying a new power supply and set of remotes? Gotta find out if it's worth it.

    Ordered DTV pal (South Florida)

I just edited the above post about method of arrival. Yea, so now that we have a Dish Network "account", I wonder if that invalidates any "new customer" or "1st time customer" deals? Maybe they want me to subscribe?? Who knows

    Ordered DTV pal (South Florida)

Review in the making: DTV Pal arrived today via UPS @ 2:30 PM Eastern. (You can compare the time of my 1st post til now to see the quick shipping time) Let me mention the cons, as there are HARDLY any just some minor things that irk me. 1. Can't have separate aspect ratio adjustments...

Radio Shack In-line amp keeps getting fried

Lightning protection is theoretical. I had a simple DSL modem get fried from stupid electrical storms. I now have a phone line ground connected to my DSL modem. It's part of life. Don't forget though, you can get surge protection coverage from your local electric company. (if they offer)...

    Ordered DTV pal (South Florida)

Since I went to DTVpal.com and ordered the converters, I'm now a "dish network" customer with an account #. Congrats to me! I can now easily add service if I wanted to, or could I? I thought that was pretty interesting that they actually sent me a $0 Dish network bill hoping I'd add services...

3 TVs - what to do

That sounds sweet! One other question, if I get a successful signal strength from those 2 channels on a separate mast, could that be combined with another mast on the other side of the roof without problems? I think I may try that route.

3 TVs - what to do

Yea Yea yea I know. Was kind of hoping to get some RTN locally so grandma doesn't have to press a bunch of buttons. WTVX does have a pretty good RTN schedule.

3 TVs - what to do

Switch? Could use a rotor for one antenna on the UHF department. Do the antennas have to be on the same mast? It's a line of sight issue. That's all. Is it possible to have the antennas on different masts on different sides of the house? That should hopefully work. One would think it does...

    Any Recommendations?

Some of the HD satellite receivers have a built-in ATSC over the air tuner. Some of them need prior authorization to operate. Just Google the example I gave you. You'll see. :)

    Any Recommendations?

If your budget is low, I recommend used Hi-def satellite receivers with ATSC tuners. Most of the time, that's your best bet. One example is the Samsung SIR-TS160. If you can get yourself the right satellite receiver, and it's owned and not leased, you can subscribe to services later on...

3 TVs - what to do

Considering I have 3 TVs, and the "mast amplifier" idea only seems to work with one TV. Is it best to have a "distribution" area or room where I have the down lead arrive and and then do the split. Basically, what I'm saying is I don't know what I'm saying! HELP! I'm at a point where...

Amplification: Before or after the split

I'm a consumer, but I'm rollin out hardcore commercialized SMATV at the house. Integrating FTA with RF modulators pretty soon here. :) Thanks for the answers!

Amplification: Before or after the split

Does it make any difference in quality? Just curious. The hi-def receiver has a 10 db amp in the living room, but none of the other TVs are amped up. Now, if I amp up the line before the split, will I see more gain if I amp before I split? I've always wondered about that as opposed to...
