I can second the Roku app being great. No equipment fee is always a plus.

Time Warner Cable Expands 'Maxx' Upgrade Footprint

Ours was turned on Friday. Don't feel we need more speed (50mbps) so lowered from the top tier down to what was 15 (now 50) and saved $20/month. :biggrin2

Cost for Time Warner Internet and only Internet (no bundle)H

I was wondering the same thing about the regular price FOR the bundles. Found out this week. A couple years ago I was on Dish for TV (somewhere around $120/mo), and had just TWC 15/1 Internet for $57.99. They gave me a great win-back promo and I have all channels TWC offers except for...

Considering a return to Time Warner

It's old news, obviously...but TWC added NFL Network a few weeks back...enjoying my Red Zone on Sundays! Plus Walking Dead season premiere on AMC tonight...would have missed that with Dish. :D

Considering a return to Time Warner

The local sales center I called was a kiosk in our local mall where I signed up for service. I had asked the sales rep before he signed me up if they kept boxes on hand. He showed me a stash he had in a drawer in the kiosk and they had one of the boxes I wanted. I asked him if my installer...

mystery of the loss internet connection

I had something similar happen back when we dropped digital phone with Time Warner and just kept the internet service. After extensive searching around the 'net for a solution I found that the modem that is for the phone service doesn't work well if you don't actually have the phone service. I...

Considering a return to Time Warner

Xizer, thank you for your very informative post. As anyone does when determining which provider to go with, I considered numerous factors. Not the least of which is price and TWC gave a very good deal to me and won me back. My experience with Dish Network was very good and I cannot say...

Considering a return to Time Warner

I hear ya! I am a big fan of Dish overall. But the savings for us will be about $2k for two years, with hardly any difference in channels that matter to us. It simply made a lot of financial sense in our case. Now I can take that savings and buy that Alienware laptop I've been wanting. LOL...

Considering a return to Time Warner

Yes I agree...I have been overall very happy with Dish, but these savings were just too large to turn down. I love the "no commitment" part! In my post about what I was paying I said "I was paying about $176 for Dish plus cable" and what I meant was that was the total for Dish, plus cable...

One HD DVR and two HD boxes. I can switch one of the other boxes for another DVR for about $11 per month, still making the savings tremendous. However, my son starts college this summer and told me not to get a DVR for him right now as he won't be home as much, plus we travel a lot during the...

Considering a return to Time Warner

I kept my home internet for which I was paying $57.95 for and added all Digital and HD channels except HD pass (which has nothing of interest for me and only a few channels) and 3D pass. No premiums with Dish, none with TWC. My total cost for all that is supposed to be $85 per month (pre-tax)...

Considering a return to Time Warner

OK, I went ahead and made the switch. Was considering it for a few months as mentioned in my first post based on an expected savings of a little under $40 per month, and being able to go back to Dish as a new customer with promo pricing. However, Time Warner hit me with a win-back promo that...

Considering a return to Time Warner

I figure just about anything will be inferior to Dish but if it's at least a great improvement from the old SA boxes then I am not nearly as hesitant. Thank you for the info. We need to get more traffic in this part of the forum! :)

Islandguy, what equipment do you have? I have read that the Cisco 8742 is a very good box. Most say it is very fast and has 500GB of storage, which is far superior to the old Scientific Atlanta boxes we had when with them last time. Anyone on the forum have experience with this new box?

Considering a return to Time Warner

I had some reboot issues also when we had Time Warner before. I had hoped that perhaps they had improved in that area. I agree their capacity is a joke, although I guess the OnDemand helps. I never really used that feature much last time we had them. I remember HD being pretty good on Time...

Considering a return to Time Warner

Thanks for that feedback. Yes I seem to remember some of the picture quality issues like you mentioned with the macro-blocking. It's funny how when you've been gone for a while how you forget those things. That's why I posted here...for feedback on service and equipment as it stands now...

Considering a return to Time Warner

Thanks for the reply! Feelin' a little love now, yeah. :luvlove: That feedback is about what I expected. Of course, having been gone for several years I had hoped they would have at least improved the equipment. Don't know why it's so hard to get a decent piece of equipment from the cable...

Considering a return to Time Warner

Greetings! I am a current Dish Network customer considering a return to Time Warner and had a few questions for anyone who may be a Time Warner customer now. I had cable all my life until moving to Dish about 2 years ago. I have been happy with Dish overall, and can say that from my...
