PAIN. I did it again. I chatted and called Fios. Sigh.

Sorry that you had such trouble. I have had FioS now for about 3 years with only 1 outage for internet and phone. I called technical support and the first level couldn't solve my problem but referred into a second level agent who solved the problem and called in back when it was fixed. Total...

    IMG 1.9 Release

Super Dave - My 7232 only asked me when had to restart it to install the external drive. I shut it off just now and turned it back and it didn't pester me for the TV size. Maybe call Verizon support for help. One other cool feature of the DVR is the chapter feature (sort of like the auto...

    IMG 1.9 Release

Release 1.9 and the Whole House DVR Finally came to Philly the other day. Very nice upgrade! The guide is cleaner and easy to use. And searches are easier and you can save your favorite searches. The DVR interface is vastly improved. Deleted videos are now recoverable. And with whole...

    FIOS after a month

I have both. The TiVo user interface is much easier to use and it offers expansion capabilities, which the FiOS DVR does not. However, release 1.9 of the Fios software will allow additional storage to be added, at which point I may retire the TiVo, as it cannot access Fios on demand features...

Verizon Charges $3.50 Fee To Pay Them

I have had only 1 internet related issue in 3 years and I talked to a pleasant American woman who solved the issue in about 5 minutes. I have been very pleased with my 35 Meg upload/download speeds for internet. Never had a phone problem once. TV service has been excellent - no downtime ever.

FiOS drops west coast movie feeds

A bit of correction to the OP: at least in the Philly area, FIOS recently only dropped 4 west coast feeds (2 cinemax and 2 TMC). All of the HBO and Showtime west coast feeds are still available.

Are all the FIOS channels unencrypted?

I think it is possible but again I'm only a relatively technically savvy customer but not an installer. So I think a call with a true Verizon tech is in order.

Are all the FIOS channels unencrypted?

Navychop, no, not exactly. In my house, like most people, I had pre-wired coax, so the Verizon installer chose to configure the ONT to send signals thru coax to the router and TV devices. In some newer homes, Ethernet is also available pre-wired, so the Verizon installer may choose to use...

    Fios HD DVR comparison

The main differences between the FIOS home media DVR and the HD DVR is that the home media DVR recordings are distributable to all devices in the home except for the digital adapter. Both devices offer up to about 80 hours of SD or 20 hours of HD recording. I would highly recommend getting the...

Are all the FIOS channels unencrypted?

Not sure I understand your question but I'll try to explain the basics. FIOS is optical to the home, then the ONT distributes signal on either RG-6/59 Coax or ethernet to a router and on to SD boxes and/or HD boxes and/or digital adapters. You cannot simply attach a TV to the coax - at a...

Firewire Cable connection From Motorola 6412 to JVC HM-DH40000U

Updated Info Correct cable is actually 6-pin to 4-pin firewire. Got the box working today. I am not a big firewire user, obviously, and I was not sure of what 4-pin or 6-pins ports looked like for sure. Anyway, got the right cable and I am happily recording! :)

Firewire Cable connection From Motorola 6412 to JVC HM-DH40000U

That's I thought. One would think that Vann's would know that. I was just wasn't positive. So probably 4-pin to 4-pin would be correct. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Firewire Cable connection From Motorola 6412 to JVC HM-DH40000U

I am going to order a JVC HM-DH40000U to archive some programs from my Motorola 6412 in HD. I want to order the correct firewire cable to connect the two devices. I can't seem to find the correct firewire cable to order for this connection. The so-called expert help line on Vanns was no...

Tech Questions on the Motorola 6412

To find Messages I am glad I'm not the only one who had trouble with the message indicator! Messages are on the main menu. Hit the menu button twice, that should get you to the main menu. You may have to scroll up or down to see where the message selection is.

Tech Questions on the Motorola 6412

Thanks Thanks for your reply. That clears up a lot. The comcast email just referred me to their DVR manual which makes no mention of these settings. Do you have any recommendations on the output settings for normal viewing -- TV speakers, stereo or "advanced"? I can't seem to hear much...
