    Big announcement by Verizon! (FiOS)

Well, I ended up going from 20/5 down to 10/2. Seems good enough. I was on 15/2 forever, and 10/2 seems almost the same. Slightly slower downloading from usenet, but now that I have to pay for it, the $7 less a month evens it out. My 20/5 price jumped to 60.99/mo, but would have been 53/mo...

    Big announcement by Verizon! (FiOS)

Yikes, after the free upgrade, looks like my monthly charges went from 49.99 to 60.99!!! I'll have to call the billing department tomorrow and find out what happened. This is according to their online account info. -John

    Big announcement by Verizon! (FiOS)

No good for me. I'm at 15/2 for $50/mo. To get 20/5 it would be $3 more per month, and I would need a year contract. I thought it would be an automatic upgrade. Sucks to have to switch from month to month to a contract, tho. -John UPDATE: Just called, and it looks like the website...

New IMG ready for Prime Time??

Sounds like a lot of the bugs are worked out, but not all of them. Personally, even if it worked 100%, its a strange way to look at TV listings. The current channel has all the info in the center of the screen. To find out details about the listings around it, you use say the up key and...

DSLReports: IMG Bugs and missing features FAQ

Just to update, this should probably not be a sticky anymore as Verizon has released a patch to their guide. It fixes some/most of these issues. -John

Should You Dump Fios for Directv?

No auto-pay for me. They just said those boxes were not returned. They obviously were. They said they would fix it, they just haven't yet.

Should You Dump Fios for Directv?

I still have a $600 bill after cancelling the Fios TV. It's a real hassle. Good luck with them getting it correct for you! Make sure you keep the UPS Store reciept!!! -John

Would you switch to Fios ?

Internet - YES TV - NO Had the TV, and there are a few issues with it. Sounds like satellite is the way to go for HD right now. Plus their DVR is horrible, but the service will work with Tivo HD. As for the internet, I have 15/2 and no problems at all. Lately their news server has been...

    Important Question About Fios Tv

That doesn't work for me. When I added TNT, I would also get TNT spanish. Also, I could not add the high def channels (upper 800's if I remember correctly). This was from my experience back in September. I no longer have the service, but maybe they have pushed an upgrade since. If they...

    Important Question About Fios Tv

No, it can't be done on the new guide. There is no working favorites list on the new guide, and you can't remove channels from the full guide listings. -John

    Important Question About Fios Tv

With the new guide, you can't do that, but they are going to add it in as a feature "real soon now". The digial adapter provides no guide, so your question doesn't really apply. I don't know much about it, but sounds like it functions like an old analog box. For $1/mo, it seems well worth...

    FIOS 2.0 now available!!!!

That and the better FF/RW with recordings is about all of the positives. Still curious to see what your reaction will be. Give it atleast a few days to miss a recording and/or reboot on you. Good news is that there is a rumor on 12/4/07 there will be a maintenance update. So you'll...

Verizon 3Q 2007: 202,000 net new FiOS TV customers, 717,000 total FiOS TV

I don't see that happening in the 4th quarter. Between the continued horrible new guide rollout and D* adding a ton of new HD channels, I would think turnover would increase a bit.

    Dad - new FIOS Sub

May want to go for a TivoHD unit if you are considering the HD DVR. They require 2 cable cards. The Vz DVR isn't the best. Good advice from garland, as any service/equipment change will change your rates to the current rates. If you keep things the same, you will be grandfathered in at...

    FIOS 2.0 now available!!!!

That's what I meant. I wonder why they didn't fix the bugs? I thought they were holding off on the rollout till the next bug fix release, but I guess not. Looking over at DSL reports, it seems like there are still a ton of problems with 2.0 in FL. Oh well, glad I canceled, as I couldn't...

    New HD Channels?

Well, I was the first with FiOS in my neighborhood. :) Canceling went easy. They terminate your video that evening (I asked to be disconnected the same day) and mail you a label. You take your boxes to the UPS store with the label, and they box it up and ship it out. They give you 30 days...

    New HD Channels?

Same here. All the Vz TV fanboys kept telling me to just get rid of the service if I really didn't like it that much. And that's just what I did. :D Not a day goes by that I don't regret my decision. No more missed DVR recordings, DVR reboots, incorrect program guide info, etc. No more...

To Tivo or not To Tivo

So where do you get those deals? (PM me!) :) I'ld go for it. I'm probably going to do the Tivo HD just for OTA, as it has 2 ATSC tuners (plus 2 cable card tuners). I wonder if you use antenna & CATV if you could record 4 shows at once? [Answer: No, only 2 tuners, but each tuner can tune...

Don't get your hopes up. (This is coming from an ex-Vz TV customer.)

    New HD Channels?

I agree. I recently dropped Verizon FiOS TV because of the recently unreliable DVR. I'm actually back to just OTA with a DVD recorder. So far so good. It's amazing how many digital channels (and subchannels) there are OTA anymore! Plus they all have accurate guide info, which is more than...

    MD area HD artifacts

Do you have the HD-DVR? If so, which model? I had a -1 swapped for a -2 a while back, and it helped a lot. I was getting wierd studdering (not pixelation) tho. They did replace the wires, connectors and splitter, but none of that helped. Atleast the Vz techs were knowledgeable. They even...

    New IMG guide delayed?

If your box reboots randomly, misses DVR recordings, had short DVR recordings, doesn't have the capability to remove channels from the guide, adds the Spanish channels automatically to your favorites list... then you have the new guide! :) It's amazing!

    MD area HD artifacts

Green line is because you are using HDMI with the new guide. If you switch to component video it should go away. As for the pixelation, the Skins game was horrible on 9 OTA, so its a source issue, not Vz. Other pixelation seems to be normal for the new software. I've noticed a lot of...
