    It got dark

I went to Findlay Ohio. I’d say it was more dusk than dark. But still super cool and much better weather than one could hope for in early April. I saw the one in 2017 too.

    Repurposing broken actuators

This link is what we use at work. But I like the Venture guide, it shows additional applications. https://dresserutility.com/wp-content/uploads/NGS-IPG-0028.pdf

Need help receiving PBS on 99W with my setup

Here in northern lower Michigan I’ve never had an issue with the 99W PBS and they’ve always been very good. Right now I am getting 86% quality on both polarities (Montana PBS one one, and then Create, World, etc. on the other). I do have a 10 ft dish however.

    This is likely 5G, right?

Yes, good to check first. And even if the receivers are fine, there could be a bad spot in the cable from there to the dish.

    This is likely 5G, right?

I thought I was having 5g problems, though I was sure there was no 5g out here. It acted just like the way people describe 5g interference. Periodic breakup despite good quality numbers. I had checked cables, LNBs, everything, even tried one from Titanium. Turned out my FTA box wasn’t putting...

    Help

For me, Reelz has been very weak for years. The other channels on that satellite are fine. I can’t even get it to scan in anymore.

    4156H Dark On 99W.

I can kinda sorta get NBC and ABC with my antenna when the weather is clear, not too common for here. They’re like 40-50 miles south but almost in line with several lakes. But CBS and FOX, zilch. They’re supposedly only 18 miles but they’re more like due east, and the way the land is cut from...

    Local Dish: Worth Pursuing?

I’d be curious why the cables are hooked up now when they weren’t before. That’s a nice solid mount. But if it was me, I’d pass, as I don’t have someone who could remove it and install it in my yard for cheap enough. Someone insured, as this is really close to a building. I’d prefer something...

    Back to big dish

Growing up I envied those with a big dish. When I got my first house in 1999 it came with one. I started with analog subscription. In 2006 I switched to 4DTV subscription. Started FTA around 2010. In 2016 I got a new house and brought the dish with me, and took a year to get things settled and...

Trouble with Ku Signals on 10ft Mesh Bud

My Ku comes in excellent. Sometimes better than C. I never used any special tools to center the feed, just a tape measure. Some satellites I do have to bump it a click to optimize one or the other, but it still comes in. 9 times out of 10, any bumping of the dish is due to accumulated missed...

Who knows or recognizes this Actuator.

If you look closely, can you find any numbers or anything stamped into the metal, visible through the paint?

    Cband has become more frustrating....

This summer I had an opportunity to get a 12 foot fiberglass dish about 15 miles away. And get paid to take it down. Would have borrowed a snowmobile trailer and hauled it home on the back roads. But I was too late. Someone beat me to it, and basically just ripped the fiberglass dish from the...

    Cband has become more frustrating....

Have you checked the voltage at the LNBF? I was having a horrible time for awhile with what acted just like terrestrial interference. NASA was the last one to fail because it is so strong. Ku was great, could barely get anything on C band. It started right about the same time as everyone else...

    RTPi - No Signal

I usually get about 3 years out of a servo motor. I get a few when I see a deal and keep them on hand.

Issue with 10 ft solid I cannot figure out

My dish used to do that near the top of the arc. When coming back down I’d have to go to the next satellite then go back up, to take up the slack. I did rework one of the pivots to tighten it up. Not sure exactly the details of the ASC1, but my analog receiver has an option to realign all...

    ME TV

I’m getting it right now, but it was way weaker than Start TV and nothing but a mangled mess. Had to tweak the skew on the dish a few clicks to get it in. One main reason I keep my Corotor vs a LNBF.

Just created my dish an offset

With an offset feed, the signal comes in from a higher point. Therefore the dish does not need to be tipped up as far to get the same signal. I think this could be a design decision. This can be a big advantage for reliability, especially up north. Not having the dish fill up with heavy...

Just created my dish an offset

Nothing wrong with tinkering and experimenting. That’s what a lot of us do. If it works better then it’s a win. If not then it’s still a learning experience and it can always go back.

    5g interference?

Well after a lot of reading here and other places, I pulled the trigger on a Amiko Mini HD 265 from KE4EST. Sounds like a solid reliable unit that's had plenty of time in the hands of users, and has RCA outputs. I read the 75 page thread on the Geosat Pro HDVR3500, and I'm surprised mine has...

    5g interference?

Thanks. When I did this I did set it to scan only TV Channels, and only FTA.

    5g interference?

TLDR: Looking for a new FTA receiver with RCA outputs. Well considering I got a mandatory week off due to Covid and I've been feeling mostly better the last couple days, I've had time to tinker with the dish. I got my LNBF from Titanium yesterday. To remove my existing scalar would be a large...

    5g interference?

Been thinking a lot about which way to go. Waveguide filter would be easiest, but if frequency cutoff needs to change later, I'll have to buy another one tuned for that. I decided to order a C138 from Titanium for starters. Will be a good diagnostic tool at minimum. If that solves the...

    5g interference?

The lower can and loops of extra wire are for the fiber they put in 2 years ago. The fiber runs overhead and the extra is wrapped up in case repair is needed. Though it’s possible they could have transmitters in them. The fiber company doesn’t offer wireless, at least for consumers. What I’m...

    5g interference?

Good call. I was wondering that myself. I thought perhaps the lnb and splitter had something to do with outputting a different frequency that the tinysa could recognize. I didn’t buy anything yet. Been scouting my area and there’s only one power pole in view from the dish, and it’s got a bunch...

    5g interference?

I'm wondering if I am getting 5g interference. Over about the last month I am getting a lot of pixellation, and now it's even on very strong channels like NASA with 99% quality. It is the same anywhere on the arc (87W near the zenith to 133W). Severity varies here and there, but every week it...
