Large corporation ownership is a problem with FM (Audacy) but I don't see it as much in the AM band. The stations with an axe to grind seem to have a presence in both bands. Stations that are substantially automated probably aren't worth talking about when it comes to detailed local emergency...

Pure digital isn't likely to overcome the RF noise inherent in modern automobiles. I think we need to take a serious look at the problem as Germany and Norway have done.
