Really the only reason I still have Dish. I work from home and the TV is on cable news all day in the background on mute unless something earth shattering happens. Have a Wally with OTA adapter so I pay zero fees and nothing for locals, which is the only reason it makes sense to keep it.

The signal can bounce off an air plane or helicopter too. When the two signals arrive at different times, it freaks out the tuner and it has to reassemble the picture all over again from one source or the other. I live in a terrible fringe area too and feel your pain.

I tried to warn you-

Probably just signal loss, which can be caused by different kinds of interference. I live 40 miles from my local towers and lightning can cause drop-out's. Trains passing by my house can cause them, too. So, "bitrate errors" is probably just signal loss.

Meanwhile, Echostar/Dish stock was up today to $15.75, where its been for almost two years. The stock market is more accurate than some financial guru who is possibly shorting the stock and hoping to drive it into bankruptcy. In other words, the market doesn't believe Moffett's predictions...
