Hopper Software Upgrade H274 5/4/204 Lost 'Showtimes' on the Info Screen

I don't have a solution for my missing 'showtimes' option on the Info button, but I've discovered a functional 'workaround'. A verbal search! If the search finds the requested show then the 'Info' button USUALLY has the 'Showtimes' option that I had lost on the stock 'Info' button. Go figure!

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

Good info. If my CM7777HD ever craps out, I'll try this one :)

Hopper Software Upgrade H274 5/4/204 Lost 'Showtimes' on the Info Screen

One of your problems has an easy fix. I know because I had the same problem and Dish Tech support walked me through the solution. Menu Settings Remote Control Scroll Down to 'Recall Button' and select the third option 'Tune and Show Last 6 Channels'

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

For just a preamp, this is the best one out there that I've tested over the years. So anybody that wants to try JUST a preamp with their present passive antenna, would do well to try this one...

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

Except it didn't. You told me simply because I was 50 miles from the towers, I probably needed a preamp. Again, I'm glad it works for you. You obviously have loss in your line. Again, go read the link I gave from the manufacturer themselves where they say the amp is only for loss in lines...

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

You missed what I said before about experimenting with other antennas with short cable runs and no splitters; see primestar31 post #21 I'm not saying the preamp is right for every application. You asked about possible fixes for your bitrate errors. I think it couldn't hurt to try the preamp...

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

I have Stellar Labs deep fringe outdoor mounted VHF-Hi and UHF antennas and I still need the preamp or it is a no go for stable reception.

None of it will be new. Very very unlikely there are many new receivers anymore

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

You have your antenna in the attic? So of course a preamp works, because you have a long cable run. That's what a preamp is for. But just saying "You have towers 50 miles away, buy a preamp" is wrong. Every expert agrees there.

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

Agree. If I could mount a larger, higher antenna, I could probably overcome the signal loss and eliminate the need for the preamp. But since I can't, and I'm limited to an attic install, I don't have a choice.

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

The signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) at the tuners demodulator is what matters most. Signal-to-noise ratio is related to what is referred to as ‘noise margin’. Often a large contributor to S/N is the tuner noise figure. Typical tuners have noise figures that range from ~6 to 8 dB. So, even...

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

I agree with this. I think he thought I was implying that the preamp tunes in signals that aren't there; I know it doesn't. But in my case the cable length doesn't matter; I'm 40+ miles from my towers and without the preamp I get almost no channels. That's whether it's rabbit ears connected...

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

Agreed, the preamp does not create a signal that isn't there but if the signal is there but low it will help get it down the coax cable to your tv (or distribution amp in my case) in still usable condition. Our stations are in the 40 to 50 mile range away and two edge. No preamp at the mast...

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

If it works for you, then ok. But telling people they need to buy a $90 amp is incorrect unless you have a long run and/or splitters. The people who do know more than you (and I) as well as the manufacturer agree. I mean, here's another discussion which has multiple people saying this as well...

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

Don't need to watch a video. I've done countless experiments myself in various locations, using multiple antennas connected directly to tuners, with and without preamps. My evidence speaks for itself.

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

Get this antenna, (it's the latest model and version, completely re-engineered) and I'll bet your stations will all lock in nicely. I tested one, and it's the most powerful yet on the smaller side antenna I've ever seen. I had NO issues picking up stations at 50~ miles using it. It'll fit on the...

Bit Rate Errors - causes and fixes?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1x3M5rE2U24 This guy explains it as well. An amp doesn't make the signal you get at the antenna stronger, it only boosts the signal for the run to your tv/splitter. It a common misconception.
