So I am watching WWE RAW on USA Network and for the second time tonight I have seen commercials for "Long range" which is some kind of medicine you give to a cow to make it gain more wieght so when its time to kill the cow it wieghs more meaning more money for the cattle companies.

The second time after I saw it I tried to rewinding and see it again and the ad was gone, so I am guessing its one of the locally inserted ads.

Since there are no cattle breeders here in Connecticut that I know about I can only assume this ad was targeted to the wrong area. Anyone else see out of place ads like this?

I think this week someone else posted a thread about this commercial on their DISH DVR. He went back to play it and the commercial had been replaced by something else. It almost sounded like digital insertion like video ads when watching something on the web. You can go back and get a completely different set of ads for the same break.

Or maybe "long range" works like viagra when people take it so they are targeting men of a certain age? :biggrin

Yes it was an inserted ad. When I went to rewind it and see it again it wasn't there.

I think they are inserting it into the wrong area. As I said here in CT there are no cattle ranchers.

I saw that same ad on TV Land last night. My Father-in-law was watching Walker, Texas Ranger when the ad came on. It caught my attention and I started laughing. It had to be a mistake.

Oiled up men in speedos grabbing each other. "Long Range" ad inserts. It is all making sense now. LMFAO!!!

There are a very few breeders in Ct but hardly are we known for it. Kent Ct has one, I believe Redding is another.

Yea, I got this same "bad" ad inserted last night during HLN at around 8:55CST; it was bad, because when I tried to hit skip back, my "wonderful" HWS decided to COMPLETELY lock up until 9PM, after another show stopped recording. It then proceeded to go into a hard reboot; when I went back to check the last 5 min of the show I was recording, it was gone, of course... :oldmad

It make no difference what the content of the locally inserted ad is. If it screws up my ability to quickly and accurately jump though a commercial break, it pi**es me off. In my neck of the woods, the current ad is for an LG smartphone. If the LG product "works" like that ad does, it'll be a very long time before consider buying one.

is those local ad insert only on the older DVRs as i just got the hopper/joey/joey/super joey setup a week ago tomorrow and have not seen one local ad inserted yet during a commercial break.

I've seen that ad here too. There is some cattle in the Birmingham, AL market, but it's certainly not Texas or the Midwest or anything, can't be a big enough business to garner an ad like that. Evidently they must just be inserting it anywhere.

Only 2 things really bug me about the local ad inserts:

1.Too many of them are in SD and this causes a big, noisy increase in volume and just looks awful when watching an HD channel.

2. When the ad comes on too soon and/or ends too late causing one to have programming interrupted. This happens A LOT!!! Are you reading this Chuckles?! So super annoying when it cuts of the show before the segment ends for commercial and/or ends late causing us to rejoin the show LATE having missed several seconds of dialog and info.
