I thought I'd pass on some information regarding the reception maps that are posted on the Rabbit Ears site. They come from users of HD Home Run receivers.

The HDHR receivers send signals to the local wifi network, and then any computer on the network, PC or Mac, can view HDTV using any number of viewers.... VLC, EyeTV, Windows Media Center, etc. The receiver software also has a scan feature where it scans through the channels and gives you a reception report, as a text file, showing signal strength, signal quality and symbol quality for each channel.

Russ in Ohio wrote a program that will take these reception report files and send them to the Rabbit Ears site and then post them on a map. There are several people submitting reports, including the webmaster of Satellite Guys in Connecticut. Check out this address:

You'll find a map of the U.S. showing all of the reports submitted. Along the right side you'll find the locations shown and a link where you can look at each local area report.

I have two HD Home Run receivers and each has two channels, so you'll find four reports for my four antennas shown for me here in San Francisco. You'll find an explanation of the signal reports as well as the scans from my receivers here: http://www.larrykenney.com/hdhr/
