Hopper stuck in "starting learning mode" for remote programming

I am trying to program some additional commands to my remote 40. When I click on "learn" the Hopper gets stuck with a message "starting learning mode, please wait..." I have placed the remote next to the antenna and waited several minutes. Also, I did a hard reset, It did not help.

Any thoughts?

Is there a 3 digit number in the top right corner of that error message?

No, there is no error message, just stays on the "starting learning mode, please wait..."

I would replace your batteries.

Replaced batteries, no change

Try unplugging your receiver for a few seconds and plug it back in.

Try resetting factory defaults. Try disabling IR in the remote manager.

I am trying to add some commands for dvd. I am picking the "learn" option, It also get's stuck for TV and Aux. I also tried a 2nd remote, Also get's stuck.

Did you use the Hopper's code to program the dvd button on the remote?

Not sure, Was programmed a while ago, I tried the option to erase all existing commands and start learning from scratch. That also fails.

I would start all over and use Menu-Settings-Remote Manager-DVD and then search for you dvd player. The programing that you are trying to learn may already be there.

Have you tried to Un-Pair the remote and then Pair?

I was ready to give up, but figured what the heck I'll try un-pairing. It would not un-pair using the hopper un-pair, Had to use the 5 step manual commands on the remote, Re-paired and it worked! Thank you Charles and Satguys!
