New York — AmTran Video formal formally unveiled here Tuesday the flagship of its JVC-branded 2015 LCD TV line — the 85-inch Ultra HD Diamond-series DM85UZXR.

The set, which is scheduled to hit retail shelves the third week of January at a $7,999 suggested retail, will feature full-array LED backlighting with 64 zones of local dimming, to produce deep black levels with strong color saturation.

The set will fall within AmTran’s “risk free” capabilities — meaning it will be compatible with the latest standard supporting native 4K Ultra HDTV content including four HDMI 2.0 inputs, HDCP 2.2 copy protection, and HEVC H.265 decoding.

No 3D. HDMI ports are 10.8 GHz. Not full bandwidth. Seems like a trade-off at the moment. Full bandwidth HDMI 2.0 with no HDCP 2.2 support, or limited bandwidth with HDCP 2.2 support.

Yeah, the new chip sets that do full bandwidth HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2 were just announced. I suspect CES will have product announcements with the new chips, and they will ship around Spring of next year, just in time for the expected Summer release of BD UHD.
