Cable Co. pricing getting too high, just got a $20 increase on my bill.
I have my phone and internet with them and see that Dish also offers same. What is the speed of the internet and price and who is it with, and what phone company is the supplier for Dish customers. And last but not least is the service any good.

I have been trying what the cost would be after the intro price. I am now with Century Link with 1.5 meg and phone for about $90 per month.

There is Dishnet wireline, which is not through satellite. If you have CL in your area, and it was previously Qwest, then that is what would be used. Otherwise they bundle with Frontier, Windstream, and a couple other small names. If you just want to do internet and one of the phone companies is not avail to bundle with there is DishNet satellite internet that is not recommended.

Who is the cable company
Morris Broadband in Hendersonville NC. Have to go to their office today as their billing dept. did not give me an explanation of the new charges and when I went to say that I wouldn't pay this bill till I got some of the charges explained, I got to I wont pay this bill and she hung up on me, so much for customer service. Have to find out how much they will charge me for phone and internet, it was $59.90 for both services but who knows what they want now.
Have some questions on the Hopper but will post them on the Hopper forum when I get a chance.

Just the opposite for me. Mediacom Des Moines offered me all three services (TV comparable programming package, PQ to what I was getting with DirecTV, plus TiVO in 3 rooms; Internet at 37 mps) for about $140 for one year, $20 increase after year 1. Was paying about $130 for DirecTV alone. Switching was a no-brainer. Seems the market lives, even in Des Moines.

Looks like the regular price for phone is $50/month. Going to Oooma, as I said, would knock that down to $3. Vonage or similar is around $25.

The regular prices for internet are:
  • $46 10M
  • $60 20M
  • $80 25M
  • $100 50M
  • $150 108M
So it isn't surprising when your $60 promo ran out (which should have included basic cable TV as well), it went up to over $90. Since you're only getting 1.5M now, I'd drop phone (after porting to a different service of course) and ask for the 10M plan or a new promo. All the pricing is pretty cut and dried, so I don't think you have grounds for refusing to pay, unfortunately.

I used to pay Century Link about that for 10 meg down/.7 meg up plus phone. Switched to Charter about 1 1/2 years ago and currently pay $72 @ month for 60 meg down (it actually averages 66)--4 meg up (averages 4.5) AND phone. Paid $60 @ month for the promotion period of one year. Been very happy with them.
ALMOST switched to them for TV but Dish made me an offer to stay (after being with 'em for 15+ years) that was too good to turn down.

Never said I was not going to pay, just not pay till I got an explanation or some of the items on my bill.
I have 10M now and phone and if that is all I want from them it will be $76.00 plus tax which would bring my monthly payment with the dish package I would want to 186.00 next year and I would get less channels than I am getting now. So I think I will just drop all the premium channels I have now which come to 91.67 and it will bring my bill down to where I can afford it with no problem. I am going to check out Oooma and see what they have to offer, right now I pay for no long distance calls and that is a plus for me. Thanks for the tip on Oooma though

I got Ooma for my house and my parents house years ago. Long distance is free (not sure about international). Takes a few weeks to port your number though, so plan for that.

Checked out Ooma and it looks like something I may get. If you make a lot of LD calls there is an international plan, I don't so its a moot point.

That's the way to go, Ooma or Voicepulse, Vonage etc all will be better and save money over most if not all cable phone plans.

No, I'm saying in many or most cases even with no bundling price. This isn't something I'm guessing at. With the caveat that there is competition for internet service where you live, you can get more for your money and/or pay less by getting separate services. If TV is just TV, and phone service is just phone service and whatever internet is fine, then bundling is the best route.
