The Verizon Galaxy Note 5 gets its sweet, sweet Marshmallow update

Check your updates..

http://www.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-note-5-getting-some-sweet-sweet-marshmallow

If you're a Galaxy Note 5 owner on Verizon, then today is a good news kind of day. The carrier has announced the rollout of its upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow which you should be seeing on your devices sometime soon.

Interestingly, Verizon also says the update comes with "the latest security patches," and we're particularly interested in seeing exactly which one that means. We're still waiting on word from Google of the March update, so in theory we'd expect nothing less than February, here. As we've not seen it hit our own devices yet, we're unable to confirm. But if you've got it, let us know in the comments below.

Along with all the Marshmallow goodness and the visual changes, Verizon has highlighted a few other key features. These include improvements to Live Broadcast, WiFi Calling for HD Voice users and the removal of the Amazon Appstore. Which is easy enough to get back should you actually want it.

You can either wait it out for an update notification or try your luck by hitting Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for Updates.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow heads to HTC One M8 on Verizon and T-Mobile on Monday

http://www.neowin.net/news/android-...-htc-one-m8-on-verizon-and-t-mobile-on-monday

While the likes of Samsung and Sony have only started upgrading their Android devices to the latest version of the OS in recent weeks, HTC began its rollout before Christmas. Its upgrade program will continue this week, reaching the company's 2014 flagship, the One M8, on two of America's largest carriers.

Mo Versi, HTC's Vice President for Product Management, revealed that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update has received technical approval for its deployment to the One M8 on both Verizon and T-Mobile.

The update is currently being prepared for its over-the-air (OTA) rollout, which will begin on Monday, March 7. Most OTA upgrades are staggered and delivered to eligible devices in 'waves', so if you don't immediately see Marshmallow available for your One M8 on Monday, don't panic - just give it a bit more time.

Meanwhile, the company is getting ready for the launch of its newest flagship, which is believed to becalled the 'HTC 10', dropping the high-end 'One' branding of its predecessors. Leaked photos and renders recently showed off the design of the new handset.

Verizon ordered to pay $1.35 million for use of 'Supercookies' in mobile traffic

http://www.androidcentral.com/verizon-ordered-pay-135-million-use-supercookies-mobile-traffic

Verizon Wireless has been ordered to pay $1.35 million for its use of "Supercookies" in mobile traffic, following an investigation by the FCC. As a result, Verizon will have to make some changes to the way it delivers advertising to customers. The process will now require Verizon to get opt-in or opt-out consent from each customer before it is able to target ads at them.

From the FCC's ruling:

Verizon Galaxy S7 unboxing

Death, taxes and unboxings. Three things in life that are as certain. On that there can be little discussion. If something is in a box, it must someday be let out of the box.

This is the Verizon model of the Samsung Galaxy S7. Or, rather, it will be once we take it out of the box. And inside this GS7 box you'll find a couple surprises. And plenty of Verizon bloatware. But also a couple good things.

Unboxing the Verizon Galaxy S7 edge

http://www.androidcentral.com/unboxing-verizon-galaxy-s7-edge

The first step of any phone purchase is getting the thing out of its box. And while so much fun comes thereafter, if you appreciate gadgets the way we do there's a special feeling associated with that first time you unseal the box of a brand new device.

There's plenty excitement around the Galaxy S7 edge, and we've been lucky enough to pull a gold platinum Verizon version out of its box this week. It's pretty standard fare in there, but Samsung seems to do something different with its Galaxy S packaging each year and this time around it's mixed things up again.

Check out our unboxing video above, and then follow it up with all of our great Galaxy S7 and S7 edge coverage!

Verizon adds the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge to its Annual Upgrade Program

Good news for Verizon users.. :)

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Veri...S7-edge-to-its-Annual-Upgrade-Program_id79263

Verizon has just announced that it is adding the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge to its Annual Upgrade Program.
Previously limited to Apple's iPhone 6s series, Big Red's upgrade program allows those who purchase the Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 edge through its equipment installment program to upgrade to a new smartphone each year.

Verizon says that those who've pre-ordered one of Samsung's new premium smartphones have been already enrolled in the program. As soon as you've paid more than 50% of the device price, but not earlier than 30 days since activating the new phone, Verizon will allow you to upgrade to a brand new smartphone. At that point, you'll turn in your Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge and hop on a new 24-month payment cycle for the new device.

Verizon says that customers will be able to switch to any phone once they've been enrolled in the Anual Upgrade Program. However, to remain on the program and keep updating each year, customers will have to switch to a phone that's supported by the program. At the moment, this limits your options to the Apple iPhone 6s series and the Samsung Galaxy S7 series, but the list will surely get bigger as newer models hit the market.

Whenever you decide that don't want to take advantage of Verizon's Anual Upgrade Program, you can simply keep making payments until you pay off the phone.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is available on Verizon for 24 monthly payments of $28.00. The larger Galaxy S7 edge will set you back $33 per month for the next two years.

For a limited time, those who switch from another carrier will receive $100 in bill credit when activating a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 edge on Verizon's network. That's on top of the up $650 that Verizon will pay to cover early termination fees, and the extra 2GB of data per month that Verizon usually offers for those coming from another carrier.

If you're already a Verizon customer but decide to upgrade to one of Samsung's Galaxy S7 models, Big Red is offering up to $300 and a minimum of $100 when you trade in yourold phone. For more details on the promotion, head on over to the source link below.

Marshmallow update imminent for Verizon LG V10

http://www.androidcentral.com/marshmallow-update-imminent-verizon-lg-v10

LG V10 owners on Verizon have a sweet treat to look forward to, as the carrier has indicated Android 6.0 Marshmallow will begin rolling out to the handset on March 24. In addition to the bump up to Marshmallow, Verizon's patch notes indicate that the update will bump the phone's software version up to VS99022A. There is no indication on how large the update will be, however.

In any case, once the update does arrive, those with a Verizon LG V10 will be able to take advantage of Marshmallow features like Doze mode, granular app permissions and Google Now on Tap.

Again, the update should begin rolling out on March 24, but we'll update this post should the date change. And as with all carrier updates, this one is likely to take some time to arrive for all users once it begins to roll out.

Verizon has updated the support pages for both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge to include information surrounding Android Marshmallow. The U.S. carrier is now rolling out 6.0.1 to the two Samsung handsets. And no, this isn't an April Fool's joke.

The software release – version MMB29K.G925VVRU4CPC2 – will include a bunch of new features like improved Google Now, longer-lasting battery thanks to Doze, and more. To manually check for updates, head to Settings > About phone > Software updates and hit Check for updates.

Nice improvement on my S6 Edge so far. Brought back the overall smoothness and so far the Edge functions aren't nearly as buggy as they had become in recent months! :D
