NEW YORK – Verizon is transforming the home communications experience for Verizon Online DSL consumers by integrating key broadband technologies into a sleek high-tech phone called Verizon One. The device, which has been available on a limited basis, is now being rolled out nationwide.

Verizon One integrates a DSL modem, 802.11g wireless router, 5.8 Ghz cordless phone, color-touch screen, Super Pages features and more, allowing users to efficiently manage all of their communications needs and devices. It is one of this year’s recipients of a Frost and Sullivan Product Innovation Award and will be featured this weekend at the Digital Life Expo, a consumer electronics show in New York City.

“Verizon has been leading the way for convergence solutions, and Verizon One is aimed at integrating voice and data services,” said Frost & Sullivan research analyst Piyush Arora. “Verizon One simplifies DSL installation and home network setup and clears away the clutter of multiple devices. It is configured for Verizon’s iobi service, which brings together telephone and online communications into one user interface.”

Verizon One, which is manufactured by Westell, can be ordered by new and existing Verizon Online DSL customers by calling 1-888-225-6659, and can be ordered at Verizon Plus stores in many Southeastern and Western states.

Verizon One’s features include visual call logs; one-touch dialing from Verizon SuperPages search results (including access to maps and driving directions); on-screen memo pad; personal calendar; address book entry directly from call logs and online directory assistance; and easily accessed updates on local weather, news, sports, stocks and entertainment highlights (such as movie listings and show times). Customers can customize the content based upon their interests and tailor the touch screen display with their personal photos to create unique backgrounds and screen savers.

When reinforced with iobi, Verizon’s communications integration service, Verizon One offers an additional, rich feature-set including one-touch dialing, visual voice mail, scheduled call-forwarding, and real-time call management

“Consumers can spend up to $350 on separate routers, modems, phones and organizers,” said Chris Pizzirani, executive director, broadband solutions product management for Verizon. “A new Verizon Online DSL customer who signs up for a one-year plan can get Verizon One for $149.99, which is a significantly better value. With Verizon One, customers can easily integrate their communications needs and become more efficient. For example, they can check the latest weather reports, manage their family’s complex calendar, and even leave a note without having to find pen and paper.”

To experience Verizon One benefits firsthand, visit Verizon at Booth #944 at the Digital Life Expo (Oct. 14-16) at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City or a local Verizon Plus store. To see a Verizon One demo, visit www.verizon.com/verizon-one/ and click on the “Take the Tour” button on the right side of the page.

New Verizon Online DSL customers can choose to purchase the Verizon One device or receive the modem that is usually included with Verizon’s standard DSL consumer offer. Customers who order Verizon One when they sign up for a one-year DSL contract will receive an immediate $50 discount off of the $199.95 retail price. Customers are also required to pay for shipping.
