If VOOM requires a landline, I--as well as many other high income,
high tech customers--will go elsewhere for our HD fix. Personally, I
refuse to deal with my local telephone company. I have tried a half
dozen times to get my local phone company (Verizon in Northern
Virginia) to fix a noisy line. I even re-connected it when I heard
VOOM required it and wasted time and connection fees for an unusable
line. I disconnected it within the month, as it was worthless and
have maintained VOOM service nonetheless. Apparently, that may
change with the latest upgrade. Local landline service is dying,
with the most inefficient, worthless customer service in American
business. There is no reason for them to perform. They are dead and
know it. If VOOM wants to hitch its wagon on this worthless
enterprise and force customers to other providers, then they too
deserve their fate. I have had DishNetwork for 5 years, the last 3
without a landline. I like having VOOM and would love to keep it,
but if I am disconnected, I will bolt before getting a landline.
