I've known about this about 20+ years ago when I first read "Loose Balls," David Pluto's book about the ABA. Great read if you can get a copy, especially the stories about a young Bob Costas and his early days as a broadcaster. Very funny stuff.

This soccer fan will not waste his time on the epl or any of those European leagues which have a handful of mega-teams and a bunch of also-rans. MLS may not match those leagues when it comes to player talent, but the competition is far more compelling.

I'm getting Spanish commentary on every game. Thought I may have bumped the sap button on my TV remote but when I hit it again it says not available. Its strange because when the Orioles game started on TNT last night it was in English but when it switched to TBS it was in Spanish. Commercials...

OK, there is the HD issue. But for a company that most say is anti-sports, Dish seems to be doing just fine. Look what we have gained in the last year -MLB Network, Universal sports, Univision Deportes, BeIn sports, and Pac-12 plus keeping BTN. Sure MSG and SNY are nowhere to be found yet, but...

I hope this works out for those who like BTN. I've had it for five years and watched a couple of basketball games, all the marquee stuff winds up on ESPN or CBS.

I like collecting programs and media guides. The most interesting one I have is an Eagles-Cardinals program from 1950.

I set a goal to see the Nats once a month this year. Went to DC in April and May, saw them in Baltimore in June. July isn't going to work out, but got plans to see three games in August. That makes six which equals one a month.

It has been mentioned in the forums over at CFL.ca that there is (but not yet announced) a new US TV deal that would start with the second half of the season plus the playoffs and Grey Cup. Many think it will be with the NBC Sports Network, but that is just speculation.

Just to let you know the contract for ESPN to carry Euro 2012 also includes the rights to Euro 2016, so no worries about the TV arrangements in four years time.
