I am considering switching to DirecTV and I had a question about MLB Extra Innings.

I am a Phillies fan and a friend of mine said that I could watch the Phillies home broadcasters (Harry Kalas etc.) now when I watch the Phillies on DirecTV.

Does anyone know if this is the case?

I know last year and in previous years, it was always the other team's broadcasters when I went to watch the Phillies.

Did this change?

My friend said it is pretty much always the Phillies broadcasters (Harry Kalas etc.) now when one goes to watch.

Is this the case? (or is it more 50/50)

Thanks!

(Also... do they show much Phillies in HD games on Direct Extra Innings?)

I found this thread on the topic.

Has anyone been watching a lot of the Phillies games lately who can answer my question about which broadcasters?

Thanks!

To answer your original question, yes, the Phils home team announcers can now be seen from time to time on EI. As for how much.....I'd say it's a typical split. I don't think they favor the Phils broadcast team over the other teams in any special way.

Also, as far as HD goes, the Phils are rarely on there. I think I've seen maybe 2 games this year on 730 or 731 that involved the Phillies.

Finally, as per the linked thread, Comcast and D* worked out an arrangement in order for Comcast to be able to broadcast EI. In exchange for allowing this D* can now provide the Phillies feed of the games. This deal has nothing to do with D* being able to broadcast Comcast SportsNet Philly and probably never will.

This past weekend in the Pads vs. Phillies series:

Fri: Philliies' announcers - Comcast feed

Sat: Pad's announcers - Cox Cable SD4 feed

Sun: Pad's announcers - Cox Cable SD4 feed

Sorry I can not give you the reason for choosing one feed over the other, besides the fact the MLBEI likes to use the home team's announcers most of the time.

On a side note it is pretty cool that we got both the Comcast Phillie feed and the Cox Cable feed for games this weekend. Both of these feeds were not available to MLBEI customers last year since both of these sports networks are not available on their own to D* customers.:)

Saturday and Sunday games in Philadelphia were on OTA Channel 57.I don't think EI has ever carried OTA games from 57.

Phillies casters, Kalas, the best in the business, It's Outta Here! Seem to be on when there is not a feed from the other team. It's been many more than expected! But still less than the other teams casters. I would say about 25% of the time though. It's still a great change because last year we didn't get nearly as many games on. Now they are all on except the occasional weekend game. Most all games on though.
