HI there I have superdish 110 119 and 121. Dish recently told me that they would send someone to repoint 121 to new sat 118.7. I would like to keep my 61.5 along with that set up. before they send anyone Is there a way i can ask for a dp 44 instead of keeping dp 34?
Thanks

If you need four orbital locations to get all of your subscribed programming, then they will install a DPP44. If not, you'll have to buy your own.

:welcome to SatelliteGuys!!!!!!!

They will have to replace the dish with a Dish 500+ or 1000+, or they may use an upgrade kit.
What are you using 61.5 for?

im using it for international channels but they informed me that 61.5 will be soon moving to 118.7. I don't have hd so i can't ask to leave the 61.5 for now. My dp 34 has been giving me a lot of problems and I have heard good things about dp 44 and it's always nice to have an extra sat on it. Can anyone give me any idea how i should convince them for a dp 44?

It's kinda sneaky...but it may work. Temporarily sign up for Sky Angel programming, since it's on the 61.5. After your 118.7 repoint, discontinue Sky Angel programming. Voila! Instant DPP44 switch.

wouldn't they still leave me on dp 34 though if i sign up for skyangel on 61.5. Let's assume i do so, then i would have 61.5, 118.7(119 included on one lnb),110.
What would be another choice 129 for locals? or 105?
Thanks Guys I really appreciate your help.

No not really not at this time. If you sign up for Dish HD they will more than likely put you up with a 1000+ for 129HD.

Perhaps signing up ONLY for 3ABN? Or is that part of the Sky Angel group of channels?

You know this poses a good question. About 2 weeks ago I went to do an install a routine one talked to the customer blah blah told them what was going on where I was going to put the dish if they were ok with that and so forth. They said great and went into the house to leave me alone I mounted it ran the cables, grounds, blah blah...Anyway I get the receivers activated and start showing them how to work the remote and such, and then right in the middle the customer says, ok I think I got the feel for it enough I will learn the rest just show me where 3ABN is:eek:....I pause and go ah ah ah well its not here. They kinda get mad/concered and and say well I was told I would be able to get 3ABN with my package. I'm like yeah you can sorta but you have to have another dish for 61.5. Anyway they were nice I was nice I told them I would call, my office I did and the girl said oh yeah I remember them they asked about that channel. She was sorta mad at me asking well why are they not getting it......to make a long story short I went back out in a couple of days and set them a 61.5 dish no charge to customer. Customer was happy. I however used a DPP LNB on a DISH 500 so added the 61.5 DP Twin to the in port and was done. In the Opps case maybe he should insist on 3ABN, but since it is considered a Public Interest Channel just depends on who he talks to.

just take the 34 away since 500+ always come with a 44 so the installer will have to put one instead of keeping it for himself . your chance is 100% if you have or apgrade to a dual tuner reciever. 2 c from echo installer

so can i call and say I want local channels from Columbus Ohio? and 3Abn, then it will be 61.5 for 3abn 129 for locals and 118.7 and 110. so they have to give me dp 44 in that case. What do you guys think?

What about 119W??? 3ABN is present on 61W and 129W.

Typically you get 61W or 129W, especially if you need 118W in addition to 110/119. Otherwise it'd be a 5 orbital config...

If Dish approves the DPP44, it'll be because of the 4 orbitals. The installer will probably give you a D1000+ due to the Columbus locals. Since you already have the 61.5 at your home, simply disconnect the 129 feed and replace it with your already existing feed from the 61.5. Just to save costs, and assuming you don't want them, I'd also call Dish up AFTER the upgrade and discontinue the Columbus locals.
