hal bodekker is reporting in his blog (the tv guy) at orlandosentinel.com, that the two sides reached a pact sometime today (saturday). details are sketchy but it sounds like BHN honcho chris fenger says there will be no fee paid to channel 6. only quote from channel 6 gm henry maldonado is the agreement is ``fair.''

If it is true, it is as I said...WKMG needs the viewership provided by cable. They had zero leverage. Knowing that, their plan was to try to create public pressure to support them. It failed.

WKMG will be paid but not per user and not a large amount each year. It also includes a big advertisement partnership with bhn and wkmg, expect a lot more ads from bhn on wkmg in the months to come.

Opens the door and establishes a terrible precedent. I could see offering them some ad time, but it is sad if BHN gave them ANY money.

Of course BHN doesn't =really= care; they can just collect it from subscribers.

Very logical I must say, but...

I still say that paying them anything establishes a terrible precedent--and don't you think the subscribers will pay for the payment to WKMG--even though it is not computed on a per subscriber basis? It is still money going to them. BHN gonna take it out of its profits?

i absoluetly love how so many people who read the sentinel actually believe that bhn came out of this smelling like a rose. the ignorance of so many never ceases to amaze me!

Do you have details?

i'm not sure exactly what you are specifically referring? read hal bodekker's blog at orlandosentinel.com. my interpretation of the contract (and correct me if i'm wrong) is that although bhn won't be paying wkmg a per sub fee, wkmg will be getting considerably more advertising on bhn. it isn't the dollar amount wkmg wanted with the per user fee. but its much more money than wftv or wesh is getting right now. maybe, it isn't free advertising but it sounding like greatly reduced advertising fee in my educated brain.

Posts prior to your previous one didn't indicate BHN came out swelling like a rose. In fact what Hal Bodekker reports has been out there. I thought you might have even more for review.

i wasn't under the impression i was saying that either. my comment was many people posted in hal bodekker's blog that they thought bhn came out smelling like a rose because bhn didn't concede on the payment per subscriber. those posters probably didn't realize and/or understand just what exactly bhn is sacrificing instead.

No problem. I know you have a lot of information from your contacts, so just curious. Anyway, thanks for responding.
