Vizio vs. Philips

Help, I had a sizeable store credit from Sam's Club and I went in to buy a Vizio SV470XVT. A Direct TV salesman was set up there and saw me loading the Vizio on a cart. He convinced my wife ( and me reluctantly) that the Philips 47PFL7403D was a better buy. $100 less. I knew I wanted 1080 with 120Mhz, which both have. But he blindsided me with contrast ratio comparisons. Vizio 6500:1 vs Philips 29000:1. I bought the Philips last week, but have not opened it, as I'm not sure if I made the right decision. I would appreciate any and all input as to a comparison of these two TV's. My wife is hounding me to set it up!

The bottom line: The Vizio SV470XVT represents a viable alternative for LCD TV bargain hunters who want 120Hz processing. Read review

I would open the Philips and try it in your home. ( Wife hounding needs to be prevented at all costs)

I have a Philips 42PFL7432D Ambilight. I have no complaints. Its about 1 year old now. PQ not quite as Good as my KDL52XBR5, But good enough for the Bedroom. If I had to buy one for the Livingroom I still would.

I went with the Vizio about a month ago and have no regrets. I felt that the picture and sound quality were better than the other TVs I compared it to (including Phillips).
