Image quality problem: flashing

Me too...I'm in central IL and I have this on ABC , NBC , FOX but CBS does something different, it has a blink every so often like a dark flash?

Do not have this on any other HD, only the locals. I emailed quality control but that was 3 weeks ago and they were "looking into it"

Another fun filled glitch filled night. I have noticed all HD channels on 118 and 129 contain this flash issue. But can anyone confirm it on the other birds as well?

Watched Billabong Odessey that was recorded Thursday 12:30 AM on HDNet Theater. The movie was flawless, no flickers, no pixilation, just beautiful HD. It was bounced off the bird at 110.

Fox News HD is on 61.5 and 129 and it is full of flickers.

Update - switching transponders hasn't made any difference. Flicker is still there. ?

You don't switch transponders. Transponders are what the signal is sent on. So only Dish could switch which transponder your locals were on (which they haven't done).

I got an email reply from dish quality asking for the "orbital slot" I was using. Is this the transponder? They said they were monitoring the situation.

I changed the transponder number to one with a stronger signal. I'm curious if this will help.

Changing the transponder only lets you view the strength of a different transponder. Each channel has its corresponding transponder already assigned. The orbital slot is in reference to the satellite position or the satellite used.

What are Transponders?

Just to update - I'm still seeing this, mostly on locals but *definitely* on others as well occasionally. As far as HD vs. SD channels, we only watch HD, so I wouldn't have any reference for comparison.

BTW, I'm on Eastern Arc.

I just got this replay from Dish:
Good news! We have identified the problem and are currently working with the software team to get this resolved. Unfortunately at this point I do not have an ETA. Please be patient and I will get you answers as soon as possible.

Anybody else notice a reduction or maybe a solution in this issue tonight? Or was I just lucky in my tv viewing this eve :)

I was watching Fox HD Chicago last night and saw the same flashing problem. It isn't fixed yet.

Na, Its certainly not:mad:. Wonder how many months this one will take. Maybe we should do a poll and have an over/under the time it take to fix vs the Audio drops.

Here is the reply I got back:
You are correct in stating that we have not yet implemented the change. We don't have an estimated time of when this will occur but hopefully it is soon. I do appreciate you keeping me up to date. It really does help. A question for you. Are you having any audio problems on WLS?
