This is my degree of celebration:

I don't really decorate much, or at least haven't yet this year. I have in the past.

Frankly, I am not that big into the religion thing, although I call myself Christian, and watch the Christian channels on TV, if something strikes me as I flip.

I am into it for the family aspect though. I have some family coming this week, and we are having a family get-together someplace/time around Christmas.

I do watch a number of Christmas specials and movies, some Christmas music, as well as seasonal food and drink.

Yes, however, I don't go as far as some I know in celebrating Christmas...

I think that you both may be looking at Christmas in the wrong sense.

I don't care for Christmas if it means nothing more than buying toys and spending money and going to a church because you are expected to.

Christmas is much different for me than that. Christmas is to me a time to reflect upon my parents and grandparents and my brothers and sister(s) and to remember how important they are to me in my life.

My Christmas is more like a Thanksgiving. I Thank God for all that I have been provided with and for all my family and friends that I have.

This buying and selling and commercialization of Christmas is an abomination in my personal way of thinking. Christmas is not about all that. Christmas is about loving and caring for one another, even for a stranger.

Christmas is for com-passion and for reflecting upon life and being civil. Christmas is for remembering Christ and what he stood for, or what he meant to us.

It does not matter if you are Jewish, Christian, Muslim or even an Atheist... We all know that it is good and wise and righteous to be kind to thy neighbor and to be honest and decent in all our life affairs. We know this and no matter what religion we are, we all practice it because we ourselves wish to be loved and liked in return.

Everyone believes this and practices this everyday of their life. Only the bad people ignore this rule and go astray. We either rein them in or shun them.

I happen to be of the Christian faith, but that does not mean that I think others are unfaithful or wrong or evil. Everyone is just the same as I. Whatever religion they are does not matter, if they are honest to themselves and righteous and passionate towards others, then they have the same ideal as I do.

Life and religion could not be more simple than this.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas! If you don't believe in Christmas or don't celebrate it, please just accept my offer of good will from my heart to yours.

To everyone, good luck and good wishes!

Gordy (RADAR)

To add:
I do the reflecting and caring year round.

I don't do gifts. I haven't for years. Not because of the commercialization aspect, just simply I don't know what to get people, nor want to get them the wrong thing, nor do I want them to gift me the same way. Often I cannot afford gifts, although I am blessed this year.

Bottom line, Christmas around here is mostly about family, although we have family get-togethers throughout the year also.

Thanks Radar! Good stuff in your every post! Count me in...

absolutely!! It's not a shopping season for me-It's the celebration of all my life's blessings from above! time with family and friends whom i don't get the time to see very often other times through the year.

Christmas used to be a wonderful time for me. The last few years have been ones to forget. The folks are up in years and their health isn't the best. The kids are grown so they and the grandkids pretty much do their own thing. Wow I get four days off work to sit home with the wife. Thankfully I have my FTA! lol Merry Christmas to all....Blind

I don't want to be a Grinch and ruin Christmas, but Viacom can take their Christmas tree and... Uh, plant it out in the forest where it will grow big and tall. You knew what I meant and why.

Merry Christmas Viacom!

Rain on my Christmas will ya. What a terrible thing to do, take someone's dedication to their Dad and friends away for some lousy greenbacks and a contract that is more than 50 years old! What kind of people are they anyway? Never seen anything so disgraceful ever. If it weren't for the holidays I'd get mad! Geeze! Huff! What will they do next, take away the 4th of July? Maybe my Birthday? Doggone idiots anyhow....
