I don't like the idea of watching anymore baseball games on my RSN in sd. Any chance E* will allocate more space to HD RSN's this week? I sure hope so.

Unlikely. There is no space available on WA. Dish also has not launched an HD DNS service, although some channels are uplinked. If you are looking for either of those, go to Direct. You won't see them at Dish.

Direct is more of a niche sports and distants service. Dish is more of a niche movies and international channels service. Dish carries all locals; Direct doesn't.

I guess I don't look at a person's local RSN in HD as being some kind of niche sports station. Just about every mom and pop cable company offers that. Dish needs to get their act together regarding local RSN in HD. I can understand them not going after sports contracts and season pass type offerings but this is just basic HD service in this day and age.

Spoken as if from Scott himself. It's ok to want/complain/whine about any other channel but when anyone says they want their RSN HD games in HD it's, "go to DirecTv."

*sigh*

That is the CORRECT answer though (at this time) and it has ALWAYS been that way.

If DISH was serious about Sports they would have all the RSN's in HD all the time, plus have channels such as YES and MSG.

DISH is not serious about sports.

what would it take from us, their customers (who are always right according to most businesses )to get them serious about sports? a lot of us are trying to hang on at Dish , hoping to be rewarded for our patience and our loyality, but there will come a day when even we give up and leave to get what we want and feel we deserve. with a new baseball season starting thrus. , that day may not be so far off. if they can do rsn's part time in hd, it can't be a bandwidth issue, so it must be about money again.

I would turn that around. What will it take from other providers to get you to change. In the case of Direct, it will take much more national HD channels, better DVR, (I still like the Dish models better)and letting me get distants (Dish does through AAD)
For cable, I doubt there is anything they will do to get me, but it would be lower rates, more channels like EuroNews, and not going out everytime there is a car accident into a pole somewhere, or power is lost on the other side of Town.....

I don't get your bandwidth comment. It is about that. Not all RSN's are showing games at the same time, thus they can get away with showing games in HD, but not the rest of the day. Even then, some games are not in HD. Otherwise you would be saying Dish is showing RSN's part time just because they want to.... makes no sense.

It's not that I don't want people to get what they want. But it is pretty clear if you are serious about wanting more sports, it will take awhile for Dish to get it. As for the MLB channel, that is in part money, but if I understand correctly they can't get it without also having the whole package. It is my opinion, in this economy and based on posts here and other sites, now is not the time to think people will sign up for an expensive MLB package when you can get it over the internet, with some great options. I don't pretend watching on the internet, usually on a computer is the same as on the big screen, but it is a fraction of the cost, and you can watch anywhere.

Hey Jimboeau, we are from the same neck of the woods and I think we adore the same baseball team. As far as I know, the games coming up this week are in HD and as far as the rest of the games go, I think it depends on if they actually bring the HD gear to the stadium or not. Maybe we are talking about two different things here. All I know is my guide tells me there opening game will be in HD on one of the ALT channels.

Dish needs to add it before people start leaving them more and more for not keeping sport stations :)

Hi Sammy,

I am a big Twins fan. All the games for the Twins and Brewers are being broadcast in HD. What Dish does is broadcast only some of the games in HD even though they are all available in HD because of lack of bandwidth. I am hoping that they add another transponder or two that will be dedicated to broadcasting the available HD games in HD. I could care less about full-time RSN's. Just want the the HD games broadcast in HD.

In the forward to John and Kathy Hillman's book 'Devotions From the World of Sports' Andy Pettitte mentions a study that indicates that 90% of Americans watch on tv or attend a sporting event at least once a month.
The idea that all sports fans have already gone over to Direct is wrong and Dish's decision to ignore this group is I think is a bad decision. It won't be a mass migration but little by little the people who want better sports choices will make the move.
The impression that Dish doesn't care about sports apparently is fine with upper management as very little is said or done to change it.
