I haven't seen the MaxGo ap, but I am pretty sure that HBOGo includes just about everything on Max.

I guess they think Roku is competition, even though you need an HBO subscription.......(?)
Roku ia great, we have 2 plus my daughter bought 1 as well. No streaming issues like we get with sky angel iptv. ONLY issue with roku is a tv isssue. For some reason it doesn't work well on some sony rear projection tvs, including mine. Its a know issue. I do use it on another older tv plus on a new flat screen 19". they do offer a money back guarantee so you have nothing to lose. Many good free channels plus fee for netflix, amazon etc.
I'm relatively new to Roku and after some setup issues, just living somewhat in a rural area was hard to get a strong signal, it works great. I haven't tried any of the paid services yet, but if they work as well as most of the free channels I will be more than satisfied.
I just upgraded from the orginal roku to the roku 2 hd and I love it. took me 10 minutes to instal and set up with netflix, epix, and hbo go. I watch twit on there a lot. its such a big improvement from the orginal plus I added a 2gb memory card to it. you can also get a kit to mount it on the back of your tv
I recently picked up a Roku XD from walmart. I wanted to get the $49 one but it didn't have an ethernet connection or composite video. It works surprisingly well. I watch crunchyroll, netflix, amazon, crackle and listen to pandora.

Be aware that some of the international channels will be taken down, due to an agreement between roku and dishworld (http://www.satelliteguys.us/dish-forum/289289-dish-enters-deal-roku.html). One that I occasionally watch is euronews and it's no longer available.
