QUESTION - What Bugs or Usability Issues do you have with your Hopper?

When playing back a show that is recorded, pressing the info button sometimes the guide information is wrong. The correct show will be listed but the description is for a different episode. For example NCIS last week when viewing the information about the show before starting it had the correct information, but once the show had been started the information listed was for an episode that wasn't even stored on my DVR. This problem does not occur with all shows and is probably the result of an indexing problem.

So, last night I had Spartacus and In Plain Sight scheduled to record on my Hooper at 7PM. At 6:55PM my third tuner went to Fox as a PTAT event. It was a baseball game that had a start time of 7PM. I said "no problem" I'll watch Jeopardy on channel 7 via PTAT. Unfortunately the PTAT channel recording was only recording the Fox channel, not the other three. At 7:55 the other three came into PTAT. This is an issue. Why can't we have all four PTAT channels start early if a sporting event causes a tuner to be occupied for an extra hour?

Very true and a good suggestion. They should all start early.

We need scheduling of updates! This is a really big problem for me. I am a shift worker, therefor I am also a night owl. 65% of my television viewing is after 10pm through 5am. I've noticed that at exactly 0100 hrs, the Hopper pops a box up which says it has to power down to check for updates. I press cancel and then at 0200 hrs, it does it again, at 0300 hrs again, 0400 hrs......... you get the picture. Every hour on the hour, my box is harassing me to let it shut down. They really need to remedy this, as us night owl viewers are people too!

PTA does not record late for CBS on Sunday night. The last 20 or so minutes of CSI: Miami were cut off.

PTA needs to be set to run at least 60 minutes longer on Sunday.

I agree with this. It needs to be corrected ASAP.

I have 1:30 timer set up for CSI: Miami. DON"T inadvertently save the PTAT recording. I did, and it replaced the 1:30 recording. PTAT did record longer than an hour but not long enough for the whole show.

I use the DishNetwork wifi adapter. On occasion my wifi signal drops out for a second. After this happens, the Hopper does not reconnect to my wifi. I have to manually re-select the router in the Hopper's broadband menu and reenter the password. (And yes, I know the wifi signal problem is not Dish's fault).

On day 3 after install ptat didnt record. Dish was unable to trace problem and credited me 1 video on demand.
Last night i recorded a show i was viewing on a joey and found out at 8:05 it kicked ptat off its tuner. It needs a double yes response promt before ptat is kicked out.
Dish remote access app for android is only recording 1-2 minutes of the programs. I dont know if its my error or a hopper issue.
Logitech Google tv wont control the hopper due to the remote not being infrared.
External hard drive and slingbox are working.
Install problems took 7 hrs to resolve. Only 2 tuners were working and a bad r6 plug was the problem. Also the tech said the hopper had to complete setup then joey #1 then joey#2 ... so reinstalls to troubleshoot the tuner problem was an hour each time. The Tech is now a member of the family and calls us by name.

If the PTAT programing is remotely stored why cant we get access to them at dishonline in the event of a programming error or dish tech problem? Everyone is defendant on this great feature working correctly and taking regular beatings from our families when it doesn't.

It is not remotely stored. It's stored locally on the PTAT partition of the Hopper hard drive.

PTAT is locally stored on a 500GB partition on your hopper. Nothing is stored remotely except BBOnline and VOD but that gets transferred to your Hopper when you select them to watch.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but when you are in the guide, pressing "skip forward" does not move you 1 day ahead the way it did with the 722. I liked that feature

Hit your Fast Forward button, it moves it a day at a time.... Skip Forward moves you three hours...

Not sure if this is specific to the Hopper/Joey but my son searched for free On Demand movies and it showed the new Adam Sandler Jack and Jill movie for free. But when he went to watch it was an old 3 minute story. Now the new Jack and Jill shows up (Twice) under rentals and says 6.99 for the HD version but nothing happens when you click on them. Can't figure out how to erase them.

I didn't see this specifically mentioned in any thread, but the only annoyance I have with the Hopper/Joey system that was installed at my house deals with the on-demand content. For example, when I browse to the HBO content and it starts listing the various HBO shows that are available, the system (more often than not) will tell me that I have lost internet connectivity and then I will be prompted to hit the record button to reset the connection. This usually happens after I hit page down a few times to list the various content available. This is really the only issue I have had with the new system and I don't know what could be causing it. The VoD works perfectly on all units (hopper and joey) once it starts.

Problems I am having so far

1) Search on program guide still doesn't work after 24 hours
2) Recorded shows using station logos

On the Joey that I have set to 480i it refuses to change the aspect ratio to 16x9, I have it set to 16x9 but it still stays in 4x3 aspect ratio.

Sent from my iPad 2 using Forum Runner

seeing the same thing favorites channels not showing up. the CW is checked but does not show up.
I also have a Music and a Movies favorites. for whatever reason they show same content - Music.
Reboot does not fix.

I've had this issue happen 3 times. While watching a recording, suddenly the "Live TV" and "pause" lights start flashing repeatedly and there is no way out of the issue. You can't rewind, fast forward, skip, nothing. I discovered a "fix" is to turn off the Hopper and then back on. You can then select the recording and then start over. Good thing the fast forward is really fast.
