I chatted and recieved showtime for three months, keeping some hope that this isn't a for good off dish

And I was about to switch to Dish to get the Hopper. With out Husker football on the Big 10, looks like I should just upgrade my DireCTV DVRs and sign an other 2 year contract.

Dish, your missing customers with Big Ten and AMC gone.

I would even pay extra for it in the Sports package if it was there.

Same for AMC, would pay extra for it also.

wow, Dish kept the channel on 2 weeks longer then you would had thought. i saw it coming, but Dish got to extend it for 2 weeks, i doubt this channel is coming back. why, well a it's a sports channel and Charlie cheapo isn't gonna spend extra money on sports, and the other reason is it's own by Fox (co-owned actually as it partly owned by Fox and Big Ten Conference) and Fox is in lawsuit mode over the Hopper whole home DVR and it's game changing features that is changing the DVR game. i see more disputes coming as content providers will get more greedy and want to try to rob us paying TV costumers blind. they are as bad as those in charge of the oil/gas companies that like to raise the price over a oil refinery fire, middle east conflicts, and hurricanes in the path of oil wells in the Gulf of Mexico. this is getting old, and why isn't the Government stepping in to stop this, is it because they get money from these companies ether the paid TV provider or the content providers. i see this is gonna kill the Paid TV industry because on day, people will say F*** it and just watch their favorite shows online ether though the legal ways or illegally, and same could be said about trying to watch Live sports, but it gonna be worse in the illegal sense as those sports leagues are gonna try to kill these illegals streams sites. it's sad to say, but the internet is slowly killing another media medium.

If, as rumored, B10 is asking for carriage to all subs, I doubt it comes back. There's a big difference in paying for a RSN and a national channel from Dish's point of view.

that makes no sense as most providers its part of the regular package in the BIg10 states and a digital tier in other states
Directv is the only one that has it on a national scale and that is back when Newscorp owned them

Man what a mess if Dish can't reach an agreement with BTN they are going to take a big hit this quarter and dare I say deservedly so.

I have to agree. I will just repeat, I would like to know what the stumbling block was/is. They had to be somewhat on the same page to continue carrying it, what happened?

How did you go about this? Dexter is about to start back up so I would love showtime for 3 months free haha
Just do a web chat, ask about BTN, then ask if they can offer any free promotions (specifically free Showtime). They are normally pretty quick to offer the 3 free months.

You were saying?

Bad day for Big ten fans, good day for people tgat like to whine about Dish. The sad thing is, unlike RSNs, BTN typically has stuff on. It really blows that Fox can't incorporate BTN into already existing channels like Fox Sports Ohio, etc...

Any way to stream this? I have a BTN2GO account, but it won't let me stream now. "Unauthorized".

I just got off a chat and a phone call with DISH. They offered me $10 off per month for 12 months. I asked the lady if that's supposed to make me happy and she said yes. I told her it didn't and I will call Direct TV on Monday. She apologized and wish me a good evening. (Not possible without the Badgers, since I gave my tickets to my son dammit!)

Probably because it's a partnership with the Big Ten who use Fox to provide distribution services for the Big Ten channels.

BTN: Hi Fox, we have original sports programming and need someone to distribute our channels.
FOX: Sure, we'll distribute your live sports programming and originals on our Fox Sports Nets, keep advertising dollars, pay you nothing, and kick sand in your face.
BTN: Wow! That's a better deal than Dish offered us...where do we sign up?

FYI, I called today to voice my displeasure with missing the U of Minnesota vs Western Michigan game on BTN. I also mentioned I had just noticed that AMC was gone and I won't be able to get The Walking Dead this season (I don't watch much TV in the summer so I had missed the furor back in July). I was transferred to customer retention (I am out of contract) and I received a Roku, HDMI cable, $49.99 bill credit, Multisport Pack for 1/2 price for 6 months, and a $5 a month bill credit for 12 months. They did ask if I had a PS3 or Xbox 360 in the house, and I honestly don't own either one. I'm happy with the compensation on the AMC thing, but I really hope the Big 10 network dispute is resolved quickly.
