I not sure if this is the correct place for this question. I bought a Satlink WS-6908 Satellite finder. It was to be used to focus in on the Shaw Direct sats. I used to have Bell but since the change I'm swapping over to Shaw.
The Satlink wasn't built with the North American satellites installed. It has Asian sats. There is no manual, only a CD-Rom. What little instructions there is on the CD are written in broken English. The unit was made in China. I can not find out how to update it to the North American Satellites. I have "googled" this question many times and many ways. No luck on finding out the answer. There are a lot of videos on You-Tube but most and in German and Russian. The one in English is about adding sats. I can't understand what they saying and they go so fast that I didn't catch it.

Can anyone help me with this? I hate to return it. If no one knows how to work this unit, can they recommend a better easy to use satellite finder. I want more than the little meters. I want one that tells me what sat. I'm on.

I moved your post to the FTA area, I think you will have a better chance at getting a reply.

I saw the video on You Tube. They go so fast I can't catch what they are doing. It looks like they are adding Sats one by one. I would like a way to add all of them at once.

I might be able to help you on this. I have a file with 22 American Sats from 72 (AMC6) tp 125 (AMC21) that you can update using a flash drive in the USB port of the meter. I also have the V2.0 software update but that is not important. Any additional sats you want to input can be done using the CTK DB Tool software as needed. Just use the existing North Am Sats as a guideline for entering any additional.
If you PM me I will send you the .ssu file with the sats.

I believe I have the 6906 model and I programmed all of the satellites into it manually and deleted most of the foreign sats. It is a great meter to dial in dishes. A lot of people gripe because it doesn't do dvb-s2 but I have found once I peak the dvb-s signal that the s2 signals come in perfect. The blind scan works great on it. It is hard to read the screen when it is bright out but other than that it is great bang of the buck.

This is how I program my Satlink WS-6908

This product is not quite designed for North America satellites such as:
1.- In North America, an Europian/NA converter is required to connect the charger to the wall.
2.- Available satellite data are not for North American satellites but I delete them all and create the new satellites with theirs transponder data by going to "Satellite Install" -> "TP Manager"...

"System Setup" allows me to input my Longitude and Latitude. After create a satellite such as "W 097.0 Galaxy 19", "Quick Search" -> select your satellite -> OK gives me my required Azimuth, Elevation and Skew for that satellite. The problem is the Skew number is negative instead of positive as many site give me.

In general, the product works well but we need to do some home works to help it. Note that your receiver has all details about the satellites and their transponder data (such as for Galaxy 19: one of the transponder has TP Freq: 12152, Symbol rate: 20000 and Polarity: H) thus you can go to "Satellite Install" -> "TP Manager"... to install it using F1, F2, F3 and F4 keys. Read screen instruction for using F keys.

If you need more instruction I could help.
