I received this new version overnight. While it may not completely fix the problems with the C31 gray screen or no screen, in my few weeks of testing the last few development versions the problem did improve.

So, it isn't perfect but it is better.

Got this version yesterday and have an issue. most of my season passes seem to be working, but there were some shows on yesterday that my 34 did not record even though they were new episodes and my season pass was supposed to record them. example- top chef was new last night, HR34 never recorded it even though there were tuners free.

did a reset last night before bed, not sure if that fixed it or not. anyone else have this issue?

all 10 of my shows recorded last night....this was 5 different series (4 on satellite 1 OTA)

my ota recordings worked last night too, just seemed to be the satellite channels. well hopefully the reset fixed it. with 80+ season passes it's hard to remember when everything comes on

I still have programs that are set to record, then they appear to record, and when you go to PLAY them from the list, the screen just freezes on a frame from whatever channel you had tuned to live. The recording is either useless or just isn't there. But it shows up in the list. Seems to almost always be a national broadcast channel (ABC, CBS, NBC) and in the 9pm to 11pm time slots. This happens a lot. My wife is getting pissed. She has to go online to watch an episode she missed of CSI about once a week. This last time, we set the grammy show to record (or whatever the latest award show was with Taylor Swift presenting...) and 15 minutes into the show wife went to list, pressed play... freeze. The record light was still on but the show is not accessible.

hmmm...I have programs on the big 4 but not during that time (8-10 central) and all record fine (I have stuff at 6:30 and 7:00)

not too impressed with the new firmware so far - client side seems to be more sluggish than ever, recording icons don't always show up in the guide if you are looking at something that is set to record (at least one series recording events in the last day didn't show a record icon next to it).

don't know if the ppv/free movie "bug" has been fixed yet and I've only had the new update about a day so I don't know yetk if I can go more than 2-3 days before I have to reboot the whole system when the client goes black or grey screen.

maybe directv should put their efforts to fixing existing bugs/issues before going to add new ones like the immediate view VOD option.

I guess I dont see alot of the issues some folks talk about because all I have is a HR34...no whole home or clienst

Focus on stability over RYG buttons "enhancements." I rarely use the bottom third of the remote so not sure I consider it an enhancement.

What do you guys think of the responsiveness? I currently have an HR24 but will upgrade this saturday to the 34.

At the main HR34 room, the responsiveness is super! The same unfortunately can't be said for the client side - multitude of issues from black screen or grey screen upon turning on the client that requires a usually inconvenient system reboot to slow on-screen guide navigation or slow responsiveness to on-screen prompts and even times when the video will go from great to whacky like video interlaced with pink and green lines or blocks that just needs a client turn off and back on to fix (and this is still after I received my third firmware update last week since I had the thing installed!)

Either DIRECTV gets with the program on the HR34 and gets the client stuff working correctly or on month 25 of my service I'm outta there because it sucks having to deal with frequent client-side issues.

I think the HR34 is schizo.. far too sluggish in some areas, scrolls way too quickly in others. IMO they have the scrolling working WELL on the H25.. apparently they can't figure out how to re-use that part of the firmware :(

No noticeable issues here on the 34 or 24 in the house. I will say I do prefer the 34, maybe it's in my head due to the tuners.

I don't have any clients in my house. H25's and wouldn't have it any other way unless they wanted to give me C31s for a dollar or two a month to pay for the inconvenience of them stealing a tuner and not being able to take them to the camp.
