Missing Channels ( They're back!)

What are you guys doing watching TVin the daytime.

Get out there and get an Obama job right now!:D:D

P.S. - Are Dish's computers are made by the same company that makes the receivers??!!

Home with a back injury. Hope to be back at work tomorrow :)

The outage was caused when someone accidentally found and pressed the ANY key! :)

Guys you need to realize that the storms don't have to be over Cheyenne. Just between them and the satellite. Like to the SW of it to screw up 129. 119 would be mostly S w/ just a little W and 110 would be S w/ a little to the E. Then 61.5 is going to be SE at a low angle then 72 would be SE and 77would be SSE. But things today were different since channels were there but only on the high numbers.

I have pretty much lost all of the Guide Info for any thing over an hour ahead. This is still going on as of my last check a few minutes ago. It has messed up all my record timers and I missed a few things today (not due to channel loss). Is this part of the problem from earlier or is there another issue?

A solar flare can be ruled out as the issue happened on all slots. Also Directv, which shares slots, but operates on different birds, did not have any issue. Given that the satellites are parked close to each other if a solar flare happened, Directv would be having the same issues when it comes to solar activity. Many factors happen, I suspect that this could have been a network issue or a routing issue somewhere. What I am suprised is that E* doesn't have a diverse site that they can immediately switch to, or backup systems. Unless the issue was with the fiber lines coming in, then that could cause an issue, but then again you would think they would have a fiber ring that would reverse to the diverse site or come in another POP preventing this. Just amazing that these issues still happen with both providers, but it seems like E* has more of these issues.

It seems more related to a bug in software. I did a check switch during the outage and all was golden. Dish has had bug in the software in the past with similar type of outage as today, although not for years AFAIK. This seemed to be a map down/authorization type error. Several of the JUNK shopping channels and Dish info channels including slate channels and PA channels were always accessible through the whole outage for both our Hoppers here, along with a few internationals at 118 that all always in the clear, but very few of the channels that require a paid package. Of course this was also pretty dynamic as some channels would disappear from the guide and then others appear. Pretty much almost all channels usually in the clear we were able to tune to, but very few that required a pay package. Also, was this outage not limited to Hoppers only? If so, that certainly means software no doubt.

That is true but they still were not close enough at the time the outage happened. There have been a few outages due to weather and not once did Dish send any notification out to retailers. This time they sent out a notice saying they were having difficulties which leads me to believe this was a different issue all together.

Well I'm glad I found this thread...since I had the WEIRDEST issue yesterday on one of my Ho's...

I had a timer set for 12PM f/1 hour on our local FOX (HD) ch 55...but when I came home, I had an hour of SXM 20's on 20 recorded instead! I went to the daily schedule & it even showed the (correct) show completed at the designated time.
All my other shows yesterday recorded correctly, so it was perplexing trying to figure out what happened at noon...

I missed this but I don't really watch daytime TV. I did notice that my locals are out, all but ABC(Sinclair) so I went and checked to see if Gray Broadcasting(Runs my local NBC, FOX, CBS) and DISH are in a dispute but it turns out they are having a major power outage causing the local newscast to be delayed.
