I have a Hopper 2000. I had my account on Dish Pause for 3 mo. with my hopper unplugged for that amount of time. I turned my service back on and I'm unable to record select Over the Air Channels now. I can make manual recordings or if Dish Carries the duplicate channel that I get OTA I can schedule recordings for them too. But I can't record channels with guide data that dish does not carry. For example ME TV, Antenna TV, Or the PBS Sub channels Kids, Create, & World. Dish had sent me a new Hopper and still no luck. I think it's a software problem. It worked before my Hopper was unplugged for 3 mo. When I push record on a show on one of those channels. It flashes that it's going to record then it never schedules it. I can't record from Live TV on those channels either. Anyone else have this issue?

So I must have gotten that May 29th update when I fired my service back up. It broke it.
Thanks for the help.

Just a thought, is this a permanent breaking of that feature? I don't see why the main ota channel can record but not the sub channels.

Maybe the subchannles are slow bringing on better programming than the pay to watch commercial channels?

I am one of those Customers. I want just the basics. I have the Welcome Pack with Locals and my OTA antenna. I tried to cancel my service but as Dish Customer Specialists always do they throw money at you to stay. I decided to stay since my Dish is only costing me $11 a month now for the next year. I don't know why they would break that feature permanently as Free OTA TV grows it's going to keep customers for them. I wish the OTA sub channels could be recorded. That would be nice.

There is a known issue, our engineers are working on to resolve, involving not being able to record the OTA channels on the Hopper. We do not have a fix date yet but it is being worked on. Thanks.

Please inform Technical Support at Dish or Customer Service about this. It would save the customers and Dish lots of time sending equipment back and forth for a problem that is known. I talk to 3 Tech Support people they had no idea this was a known issue.

Someone posted a work around for this. I did a quick search and couldn't find it. What you do, highlight the show in the guide that you want to record, click the red record button 3 times. Do NOT click on create, click on Manual Timer, make any changes and then Create.

I was going to say the same thing - if it's a known issue, people are returning perfectly good receivers and the replacements are NOT going to be any better. Plus the hassle of losing any recordings (I'd venture to say that very few people use external HDDs).
