How or why would they want that integrated into the D* recvrs ?
for those with a Lifeshield system, the app on the Genie can be used to arm, disarm, view cameras from your DVR. For those without the system, clicking on the app lets you know you can subscribe. this is a very nobel feature, I don't see it as a must. I can always open the app on my iPhone much quickly that it takes the app to load on the Genies.

I suppose it might be useful to some, particularly camera wise if it does that, however, I don't know why you would want to Arm and Disarm your system if your already home. Like you said it would be quicker to use your Smart Phone.

marketing. It sure does looks nice on an ad.

I can see a scenario where someone is in bed watching TV and then sets the alarm before going to sleep.

I disagree. Arming the system at night prior to turning off the tv would be convenient. Disarming, on the other hand, would likely not allow you to disarm it prior to the dispatch center being notified.

Sure you can arm via your tv, but I find it more convinient (quicker) using the apps for various devices. And this is coming from someone who has used the system.

I would think that getting up and walking over to the panel and hit a button would be simplier and quicker than either of the other ideas.

Assuming you have a keypad panel in your bedroom, I'd agree. However if you're panel is on another level, the TV (or walking to a device with the app) would be easier.
