Official - I have a Hopper 3 Thread!

Anyone having a problem with their OTA dongle working with the H3? Unlike others who have reported that they can't get their OTA channels into their favorites list, mine have all loaded correctly. My problem is when trying to change from one OTA sub-channel to another my H3 has gone black and then rebooted twice already. It also went black and rebooted once when I tried to scan for OTA channels. Anyone else having this problem?

I had good luck watching live OTA last night. Watched the Portland Trailblazers beat the Rockets on KLSR-DT 31.2 with out any issues. It's when I record OTA programing so far is when I have issues.

Please report the OTA recording problem to DISH via DIRT if you haven't already. The more of us that report it the quicker they might fix it. :)

also they might want to check on the hopper 3 so you can add your ota channels to your favorites list also.

Called in on Thurs. Feb 4 and was told the tech would be out Fri Feb 5 between 12 and 5pm. I had taken the day off for this install. I did not hear anything from Dish or the Tech by 2pm so I called Dish. I was told there was no appointment for me. And there was nothing in my records concerning my call. I was than told I would have to pay $150 for the upgrade (only been with Dish 1 year). I agreed and an appointment was setup for Monday Morning. The install went well considering that I was the 2nd Hopper 3 install for the Tech. He installed the new LNB and removed the Hopper and Super Joey replacing with a Hopper 3 and Joey 2. He went over the features but was not as well informed about the new system. He did his best with the training he received. But I seemed to more about the system than he did. Some of the features were not available until the next day. This is normal for most Satellite systems. I like this new system as I did have a few conflicts with programing on the Hopper. Some networks like to start and finish 1 to 5 minutes after the hour. This can cause conflicts when trying to record and programs overlap.

The 50.0 remote is ok but I miss the 40.0 remote. I now have to press 2 or 3 buttons to do what one did on the older remote. I have a Logitech Touch so that solve some of the problems. I may just buy a 40.0 remote off Amazon.

Another thing is the new Guide. It only displays 2 hours at a time vs 3 hours on the older UI. A minor inconvenience but still. Also the view window is at the top on the right and seems to be smaller than the one on the Hopper 2. I am not sure if I like the channel/program info on the right side but I will probable adapt to it over time.

My experience with Satellite TV started with Primestar. I then went to Dish for a couple of years then to DirecTV for 6 or 7 years. The Hopper is far better than the Genie in my opinion. Also, Dish Anywhere is great. Anything on my Hopper is available wherever I go. Not so with DirecTV unless they have made some changes in the last year. When on vacation in Cheyenne WY I was able to watch the Seahawks play on the Ipad as the game was not available in the Hotel.

So overall, except with having to pay $150 for the upgrade, I am very happy with the Hopper 3 system and the install.

Netflix is working now, but I was disappointed to see that there is no 4k content available.
type in the search box "4k" and the 4k titles should come up but the problem is there is that netlfix app does not support ultra 4k hd at the moment dish and neflix is working on it right now

You will have 16 tuners on the H3, so I would think you would have no conflicts due to overlapping programs.

My H3 twice now has given me no picture when I go to watch tv. I get audio, no video. It takes a reset to restore the picture. Anyone else have this problem? 4k joeys still work fine, but the H3 becomes unresponsive. I tried to change channels without the picture and it will not.

Go into your guide settings and select smaller text. The guide will display three hours.

Yes I had this happen once. I had to reboot with the red button to get the video back.

& done. About an hour and forty-five minutes. Timers transferred and guide populated. Tech left me with both 40.0 remotes and the hopper and joey (he gave me the option). Dish is sending me a box. I put the carbon UI on the old hopper last night and am currently transferring recordings. We'll see how that goes. Very pleased with the tech. He was willing to talk and did efficient work. He got a nice tip and will be getting top scores on the survey.

So this survey Dish does - how do they do it and how soon after the install date?
I was installed early last week and haven't heard from them yet.

Just got the call for mine. They must not have programmed yours in for the robot call.
