Boy a receiver from 1999. Boy, what a blast from the past. That was my very first pvr, a web tv/dishplayer 7100 model. Loved it at first but I quickly learned to Hate that damn receiver with a passion, when the legal battle began with Microsoft and DISH. That receiver never worked right again.

As you can see by my signature, a 7100 was my first receiver as well. Got it from Radio Shack and installed it myself (last time I ever did that). It came with a wireless remote keyboard, you could sit on your couch and surf the web and use email while using your tv as a monitor. The thing was so slow doing any of that but where I lived it was the best way to get TV or on the internet. Unless you have the keyboard for if, maybe even a museum may not want it.

The webtv /dishplayer was also my first access to the internet at home. I got my first real computer desktop in 2001, when they came down in price so I could afford one.

I don't have the keyboard, and I couldn't get it to respond to my dish IR remote. The only buttons are info and up/down. Not even a select button.
I am not sure but I believe it is an 850 Meg HD. Might even be an IDE (PATA).

Don't give it to Goodwill, it is completely useless. Someone would spend $ on it thinking they could actually use it. Recycle or just plain garbage.

Those were a nightmare when they were new, 17 years later...

That was the code to put into the receiver to access something. I can't remember what it did exactly. Something more technical.

This was my first DVR and when I bought it did not have DVR functionality and did not know it was coming. Later it came. It was also my first access to the internet from my home and the lightening ran in on the unit so I bought my first computer afterwards. The 5 hours of storage sure wasnt much though.

I thought that was the info-browse-theme-tv/video code.

I remember installing a few of these brand new to folks that were thrilled to get them...in 1999! Those were the days, 119 only.

Service ceased on September 30, 2013. Actually, much, much longer than I figured it lasted. It launched on September 18, 1996, and was acquired by Microsoft in April 1997. In July 2001, they rebranded it as "MSN TV."

Are we talking a Webtv or a dish player 7100 with integrated Webtv?

This was one of the biggest pieces or garbage dish ever made. Only good thing was the guide, first Dvr, and the fact we could hack the hard drives to add more hours.

Loved the UI, was very smooth, and i like how to change EPG to full screen. The color and feel was the perfect. Also i remember that one time the UI was crazy, the screen are green with a red paragraph.
