TBS 6903 VS 6983

Seems the TBS 6983 is out of stock at some retailers. Maybe it is EOL and the 6903 a replacment?
Think it is listed as a dual receiver.

I got a 6903 last week but haven't installed it yet.

Looks like a single tuner with loop-out, same as the 6983.
Guess I'll have to order me one too! :)

I stand corrected! (actually sitting at the moment..) :)
I have one on it's way.
The 5980 I have is not working anymore, only receives for a few seconds now then dies. Good thing it was reletively cheap.
Hope the new card works! Source (US company) is much more reputable than where the 5980 came from. Can't wait to try it out!

The one from Amazon is shipped from DTV Shop... however if you have an issue you contact Amazon and they take care of it for you. :)

I have a 6983 and the software it came with wasn't too great. Ended up buying EBSPro.

Just curious if they have improved the software with the 6903 and what software you guys plan to use with it?

Will likely be the same software package as I got with the 5980, works but not that intuitive to use. Much better software out there like Crazyscan and EBSPro to name a couple. You will need the drivers that come on the CD though, which are also available on the TBS website.

Thinking we should have done a package deal, maybe buy 3 and get 10% or more off / unit? Hindsight is always 20-20.

I have a 6983 and the software

As hard core DXers I (Sato) and Peon (aka Onacila) decided to prove the TBS 6983 card`s capability on reception of the lowest and highest SR we can receive in Europe.
We test our hardware to the maximum on various bands as we can cover C (3.4-4.2 + 4.5-4.8 GHz), Ku (10.75-12.75 GHz) and Ka (18.2-22.2 GHz) plus X band (7.25-7.75 GHz hardware is ready).

Anyway, with TBS 6983 on Windows 7 (32 bit) the lowest SR we have been able to get so far is SR 128 and the highest is SR 60000 KS/s. Both stable and hassle free on a 2.5m prime focus dish by using XMW 9216HDF and NJR 2842S. SR 139 KS/s have been received in C band by using a Norsat 8115F LNB. I guess, these are current limits in orbit at the moment, but definitely not the TBS card`s! If there`s anything under or above those SRs, I`ll post screenshost here asap.

Additional details can be found on lyngsat.com or flysat.com where our and other DXers` updates are posted.
If there`s an approval of certain people we collaborate with, we can test TBS 6903 to the max, too.

"test TBS 6903 to the max, too."
That would be great, although we have different services available in the North/South American section of the arc.
My TBS 6903 has worked very well so far. Only had to reload the driver a couple of times when windoze did an update or had a conniption...

You have my word that there will be similar or even "harder" testing for a new TBS 6903 card that supposed to replace 6983. What`s more I`ll add similar reception report for a new TBS 6522 in a separate thread. TBS 6522 has DVB-S2X capability, so it deserves a separate thread.
Peon has both cards (6903 & 6522) so we look forward to the opportunity to test them to the max!

For now on I`d add a screenshot of Eutelsat 12 West A @ 12.5W - frequency 12555 V
This is very interesting because ACM VCM + Multistream are used together. It is not very common to see such combination as standart TVs usually broadcast in CCM (short for Coding mode) and ACM/VCM is used for data transmission when using 16 or 32 APSK modulation.

Reception was made by TBS 6983 card.
