Presidential Convention Channel

I just looked and it isn't showing in the app for me. Often channels do pop up there before going "live" though. Or, it could be a private channel for the convention that showed up by accident. I do remember that many, many years ago DirecTV offered special channels for both conventions that showed a "raw" feed of the proceedings. I think that was back in 2000. I don't recall them doing it for 2008 or 2012 though, so this would be a new development.

A quick Google search did provide a link to an ordering guide for media that indicates AT&T will provide services for the Republican Convention, so possibly they're just making that feed available on satellite as well?

AT&T will provide the ultimate TV experience for the RNC. The convention package will
include high-definition news channels along with the COA production channels.

Edit: A "where to watch" page on the Democratic National Convention website lists DirecTV as a viewing option.

This is all I got. It shows Republican National Convention as upcoming...

I see now.. It only shows up on the phone version of the app, not on my iPad. Must be a bug. Sounds like a nice edition, if it is in HD.

Those of you that have FTA dishes and can connect to the two free channels on 91 W will probably be able to watch both conventions on ABC NewsOne. I was able to watch both the raw feeds back in 2012. I did not have to watch a banner or crawler or listen to some pundant explain to me what I just saw and heard !!

Watch them on C-Span (especially by going to the website then connect it to your TV so you can see them in HD). That way they will play in their entirety and won't be interrupted by commercials or commentary.

Fortunately I've got a TiVo as well so I get all three C-SPAN channels in HD. The only thing that annoys me is the fact that they have so many graphics on the screen all the time

Do you get a web feed? DirecTV does not carry CSPAN 1&2 in HD, CSPAN 3 is only on cable. Hopefully, that will change. I personally would like to see all 3 added in HD to DirecTV.

No, the TiVo has a CableCard in it. Charter, our local cable provider, carries all three in HD. I originally took it to get a better deal on my internet service and I liked it so much I've kept both. Sure it's overkill, but it saves me $40 a month on Internet so it virtually cancels out

Out of curiosity what kind of FTA dish is required to pick up these feeds you describe? Would it be a KU or C-BAND dish? I've been hearing about FTA for awhile now, and have considered getting into it for primarily this reason.

Looked on the guide on TV today and 347 was the presidential convention channel. It's just a DIRECTV logo at this point but I assume it will be a clean video feed from the conventions. It is in 1080i. I know Dish did this for the 2008 conventions, but didn't for the 2012 (republican).
