I've been a member of the forums for a long time and I've had several discussions, agreements, disagreements, and a massive amounts of learning at my finger tips from this site. Actually made a friend, Jimbo, on this site and we've talked about getting together sometime. With that being said, today was officially my last day as a Directv technician. My 7 year anniversary happened to be my last day of my 2 week notice. I moved on to the a government job locally. I just want to say thanks to everybody that's taught me along the way. A useless discussion to some may have been huge to me in the field with troubleshooting or pleasing a customer. I learned both sides of the fence. How a customer REALLY wants to be treated and how to make sure they got the best enjoyment out of the system I was installing. I'm not leaving the forums but just wanted to say thanks to everybody that's helped me and my customers the past several years

I refused to let it be life! I got on at my local Post Office being a carrier. Currently a pay cut but it'll end up being a better paying job, better benefits, and holidays! The only holidays I got off was thanksgiving and Christmas and we had to work the following Sunday to make up for those days off

Did you get on as a regular carrier or a CCA? If CCA, get ready to work almost every Sunday delivering Amazon packages! CCAs are used and abused here. A 16yr employee here.

CCA right now but my entire office is retiring including the PM. We don't do Sunday delivery here for Amazon so I'm safe, for now

I can get you $50 off on a Dish account!
;)

May your feet never flatten.

Sounds like you'll make regular soon then. How do you get out of Amazon Sundays? We have 5 POs here but Sundays it all comes out of our main station and most all CCAs have to do it no matter what station they are assigned to. I'm glad to be regular with seniority. :)

Good luck in the new challenge - I hope you find it a bit easier and more satisfying.

I never understood the idea of the Sunday delivery from the post office for Amazon. They generally aren't charging their customer more for it, I had an item come on Sunday that I just was happily would have received Monday. USPS is hurting for revenue enough they seem to be catering for this type of business which puts them in a rough position.

Well, you're right. USPS has a contract with Amazon that's worth millions to give them on-time delivery, including Sundays. Our station gets an average of 2 pallets full of just Amazon from Amazon's contracted transporters. That's probably 6-8 for Sundays.

But remember, it's not just a USPS desire. Amazon wanted it to give their customers the service. Amazon also does same-day delivery in areas where they have a DC. USPS is the only agent that is setup to deliver to every address, every day. UPS, FedEx & FedEx Home are setup to deliver a set # of packages. USPS goes by every single one - including remote areas like the floor of the Grand Canyon!

Some how they've flown under the radar. I'm assuming it's because there isn't enough volume in my area to warrant it? Not sure BUT I'm not complaining
