I know a lot about the AM21. With the Nexstar stations finally adding subchannels, I am going to have 4 new locals "soon". (See the post in the OTA section for more about that)... WVNY 22-1 ABC and WFFF 44-1 FOX Burlington VT are each adding 2 subchannels. Each of those stations used to have a -2 that was in the AM21, so I am assuming that they will show up again. They eliminated their SD simulcast on their -2's not long after I moved back here, so I know the -2's were in there at one point, so Escape and Bounce should be ok..

To add 22-3 and 44-3, the Seattle market as a secondary will get those to show up, but the guide data will be wrong. I don't think I can get Laff on 22-3 and Grit on 44-3, but I thought I would check to see if anyone, like coconut, can see something that I missed. Thanks.

You will have to run 2 zips, but if you run Houston TX (77002) the .3 RF13 will match Houston's 13.3 RF13 KTRK (LAFF) and give you the LAFF guide on 22.3 RF13 in Burlington. This is contingent upon no other zip with a 22.3 be run. As the channel match has precedence over a RF channel match. Then there are 6 choices to get 44.3 RF43. Birmingham AL, Boston MA, Los Angeles CA, Tulsa OK, Wheeling WV, and Wilkes Barre PA. Seattle's 22.3 would override the RF channel match of Houston. I would run Wheeling or Wilkes Barre, as they are smaller DMA's and less opportunity for conflicts. There is no way to match 44.3 to a GRIT guide.

I just looked at something that might conflict for you. I remember in the past that you have stated that you use Weslaco TX to match 5.3 to METV in Burlington. I noticed that Weslaco' 5.3 is on RF13. Therefore you might not get 22.3 RF13 by using Houston. You can use Mobile AL to match 5.3 to METV, in Burlington, also. If Weslaco blocks 22.3 because of 5.3 being on RF13.

Thanks a lot!

Not to mention WVNY 22-1 is, itself, also RF 13. Edit: I see you mention that in your first post. But still...

Also I believe I have used the Mobile MeTV before but I think it had Mayberry instead of Andy Griffith in the guide, which is a nightly error whereas Weslaco is only wrong when MeTV WPTZ 5-3 is airing ACC Network games, which I watch in HD on WSBK Boston anyway.

This is an area where most people misunderstand (or blame) the AM21. By matching the .2 RF31 to Memphis, it gives you the channel 38.2 RF31 WSWB in Wilkes Barre, with the METV guide from Memphis's channel. So it is a guide match. Now if your antenna receives the channel, you will get the channel. Most people blame the AM21 if their antenna is NOT good enough to receive a certain channel, misunderstanding the fact that the AM21 will receive ANY channel picked up by your antenna that is either in the database for D* or can be matched up using a secondary zip code that matches either the channel or the RF channel. So by using Memphis as a secondary zip code in Wilkes Barre, you receive 38.2 RF31 WSWB with the correct METV guide. And you will always receive the channel if your antenna signal is strong enough. Not the AM21,s fault if your antenna signal drops to low to receive the channel.

To clarify something from earlier and the above post: It is possible that the RF13 XX-3 data that the AM21 is using to match my MeTV from TX will block the ability to match Laff 22-3 because the RF13 XX-3 that it's looking for is already used. I would rather have MeTV so, we'll have to wait and see. Wouldn't it be great if the database didn't have IND labeled for most of the subchannels?

What I would do is run Weslaco as a secondary zip before Houston and see what you have. If you don't have LAFF on 22.3 RF13 after this I would try Mobile AL and then Houston. With Mobiles 5.3 having a different RF channel it might give you 22.3 RF13 LAFF. It's your choice as to how you want to structure your channels and which zip (Weslaco or Mobile) you use to get METV on 5.3 with the correct guide.

Since my home zip and Weslaco are already in there, I will start there when the new subchannels come on the air. Thanks for your input and time!

The stations did not launch on the channels that Rabbitears speculated. 22-2 is Laff and WVNYDT2 is still in the AM21, but still shows the ABC22 relay (and ABC logo) in the guide data. I expect that will change soon. Grit is 22-3. Do you know of a Grit station on 22-3 or RF13? I think Tucson, AZ would work, but I trust your opinion more than mine! I should have waited until the subchannels launched but I got antsy.

Looks like Bounce and Escape will end up on WFFF. I will wait and see which one goes where.

Update: After resetting the AM21, I am no longer able to force a zip for 22-3 Grit. Due to your initial thought of the RF13 for both zips I would be running, MeTV shows up in both places. If I hadn't jumped the gun and assumed the channels were going to be exactly like Rabbit ears said, I think I would have a chance with Tucson.

Does anybody know what ZIP codes I can use for the Springfield Missouri for 10.3 27.2 27.3 so I can receive those channels on my am21n 10.2 I found because that I can use the San Diego affiliate and get the correct Channel info

I couldn't find matches for guide data, but if you put in a Columbia, South Carolina zip code, it will add 10.3, 27.2, and 27.3 with incorrect guide data, but you can still watch your local content on those channels. Zip is 29201. That's the quick fix.

Update for mine: I chose 22-3 WSBT because that station doesn't have guide data just 'weather" in blocks. Less intrusive than completely wrong.

If you run Roanoke VA (24011) it will give you the BOUNCE guide on 27.2. Then run Columbia SC (29201) to get the correct GRIT guide on 10.3 and 27.3. Then here's a bonus for Springfield. If you run Miami FL (33122) it should give you ANTENNA TV on 33.3 in Springfield, with the correct ANTENNA TV guide. Miami's 39.3 RF19 WSFL runs ANTENNA TV on that channel and it should be a match in Springfield for you. If you already ran Columbia, running Roanoke wont give you the 27.2 channel from Roanoke as you would have already established a 27.2 channel by running Columbia. But Miami should work for 33.3 for you.

You catch 'em all! Thank you for all the time you put in finding zip codes

I can't find a match for a .3 RF13 match to get GRIT on 22.3 RF13 for you. There are about 3-4 channels that carry GRIT on .3 RF13, but none of them are in the database.
