Okay I have a 2400 square foot ranch that when the basement is finished will be well over 4000 square feet....I am upgrading my network and making sure all my streamers and equipment work....also a goal is to be able to control access to certain devices (i.e. boys wake up they need to make their beds, brush their teeth before any netflix or games access). My question to you guys is is a mesh network better in this scenario, or would a wrt1900 acs in the middle of the house work....its a L shaped ranch and I would like wifi access out to my garage and bbq area about 100 feet outside the house. House was built in 1998 so wood and drywall only. any other info?

My WRT1900 covers my house and property really well. I live out in the country and never messed with WiFi passwords much until I got the WRT1900.
Now I have to use passwords. :)

Similar setup? You think it will cover my house with power to spare?

My house is 2200 Sq Ft, no basement. It has worked well though. I was actually amazed how I can be at the shed a couple of hundred feet from the house and still get a strong signal.
So one day I just started walking with my cell phone. I was out to about 300 yards away and still had a weak signal, but the internet was very slow and not as good.
Walked in about 150-200 yards and internet was working fine. It also probably helps that my house is up on a hill, so YMMV, but I would say it should work just fine for you.
Like always though, I would carefully remove it from its package and such, and do some testing on day one, that way you can return it. Like I said though, I think you will be happy with it.
BTW this is on stock firmware.

I have the 1900ACS and it covers my whole 2000 sq ft house with full signal strength on both 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz networks. It also covers my backyard which is about 175ft from the back door. When I drive up the street I don't auto connect until I pull in the driveway. I recommend mounting it high up as you can get it in the center and position the antennas to aim in all the weakest directions.

But please read this thread to see my only complaint on the Linksys 1900acs.

I messed around with repeaters and other different brands of routers before this one and it was a nightmare getting stuff to all cooperate, especially with mobile devices. Too intermittent and fussy. So today, I have all critical stuff on ethernet and only use wifi for mobile. My home has typically 35 devices connected but normally only 3 or 4 of them are wifi.
