Hello,

I just had Dish installed about 2 weeks ago. I live in an older house that is not pre wired for cable. I had been using a cable company for cable/internet but wanted to get Dish and keep my internet through the previous company. So, when i had dish installed I had one wire to the living room and 1 wire to a bedroom already done by the cable company. So, i had the Dish guy install my hopper in the bedroom and the wireless joey installed in the living room. I did this because the coax in the living room was already being used by the modem/router. Well today i got the bright idea of switching the hopper and joey and moving my router to the bedroom. Very easy i thought. Got everything hooked up and the internet came right back online. But what do you know, TOTAL SIGNAL LOSS from dish.

Now when i did this i went outside and just swapped the feeds. Switched the feed coming from the cable company to the bedroom and switched the satellite to the living room. Should work just fine in my mind but obviously it has not. Need some help here guys. Of course dish wants close to 100 bucks to send a tech out.

I do not have a node (that i can tell) it is simply one one coax running from the dish on the roof, down the side of the house and into the cable box that was already there. Thanks for your time.

Since the Hopper is directly connected to the satellite and the Joey is connected to the Hopper, switching the receivers would result in the signal loss.

We can send a technician relocate the receivers. Please send me a PM with your phone number and 4 digit PIN to better assist.

But it is still connected directly to the satellite. I'm not sure what i am missing here. It is the exact same.

It sounds like he has (or he believes that he has) the Hopper (not the Joey) connected to the dish, but through a different cable and in a different room. That should work, unless the cable to that room is not good enough or if he didn't really make the connection he thought that he did. It would also fail if there is a splitter somewhere on this cable. (The internet modem could have worked with lesser cable or a splitter in line.) Also, if the cable actually connects to anything inside the cable box on the wall, that could be the problem.
