Arghhh, I am so frustrated with the H3 timers situation

This has become more than just an annoyance, we've now missed at least 10 shows since this issue started with U347. Dish needs to either learn how to regression test or stop adding new features and fix all of the problems with the hopper software. If I released code this bad at my company on such a regular basis, i'd be looking for a new job real fast. I haven't seen much from DIRT on this issue either, it sure would be nice if DISH would acknowledge the issue and provide an ETA on resolution.

Have a question, it seems originally with the Hopper 3, when you record a series, you can choose New and Reruns, daily, weekly, etc of what to record which was still available as of a few weeks ago. Now, that no longer even is a option, does it just record new and reruns now by default?

You must be talking about a hopper, my 722 has new, all, and then some others like daily, weekly.

Yes, Hopper 3 to be specific. Up until a few weeks ago, it was still showing the New only, New and Reruns, Daily, Weekly, etc as one of the variables for the timer but after the guide was updated again, that variable no longer exists.

The reason for this is because of all the guide issues, what you think is a series, your receiver sometimes does not, it just thinks it's a one off event so the series record options are not given. This is also why some series episodes are not recorded even though you have a series timer set, your receiver doesn't think some events are part of the series even though they are. I don't know how many hours I have spent setting timers for individual recordings because of all this, trying to make sure I don't miss anything. Sure, this is all a 1st World problem, but Dish really need to get on the stick and fix this mess.

Just finished up setting up a timer via DA while out of town. Those variable where accessible there.
Oh, and the original The Expanse timer fired up again last night!

Has anyone pinged the dirt team and pointed then at this thread?

I have talked to dirt about it. He said that dish is aware of the issue and that it is a top priority. No idea when it will be fixed. Gave me a ppv coupon for my patience in the matter

Good point. You're right that it is only new serieses I added since I only edit the timer the first time I do the record series when there is a new series except for whatever reason, it's recording everything for the past 5 days or so. The only issue is we'll be gone on a trip so fixing the recordings is easy when you can access the hopper locally as when you hit DVR and schedule or timers, if the problem exists, it will just show a white line through the event which is skipping the event so you can just do a record this on it to fix it manually but I don't see Dishanywhere.com able to show the skipped events.

AGAIN, last night another show did not tape. I checked the timer, checked the guide, all looked good. This morning...BAM...No show recorded. This issue has become past the point of frustrating to me. Honestly you see this same question in too many threads...Does Dish even care about their customers satisfaction?

I had to manually record Pawn Stars both episodes. I check every other day or so and for awhile everything was ok but now I am finding there still can be problems. It looked like Brockmire was not going to record but the day it aired the sched changed to show it was recording not the only show to do that. If they all did that way but in the end actually recorded I wouldn't care but now you just don't know unless you check all the time.

Just as bad is idiotic show descriptions........

I agree with your frustration. I called a CSR two days ago trying to see if they had a solution to the problem. The CSR was nice but he played stupid. He told me that he had not heard about this problem before, but as we were talking , he let out hints that he knew about the problem. He was unable to help except just keep setting your timers manually. The CSR told me that he would pass the information the engineers about the problem. I asked for a update email for an ETA on when the problem would be fix and he said OK but it would take a minimum of two weeks. He then gave me a loyalty discount on my bill to ease my frustration.

My take away from the conversation is that the engineers are perplexed about the problem and can’t fix it yet. Dish Corp is trying to keep us happy by allowing the first line CSR to issue out benefits without a supervisor approval.

The question is that will the Dish Corp and the engineering section manager take this problem serious enough to commit the enough resources to solve this problem quickly. We will see. It definitely needs to be fixed yesterday.

Still problems here with the timers. I even did the partial reset yesterday morning. Timer showed in the scheduled list, red mark in the guide, still didn't record.

Well the pendulum has now swung the other way. Now some shows are recording every episode.

On my system, Forge in Fire has a generic description and so now every episode is set to record next week. I hope that they update the guide so I don’t have a bunch of the same episode that I have to delete.

Well it is better than missing show though.

Whomever Dish has doing the guide needs to get it together. It seams that they are lazy by putting in generic description to the guide till the last minute. When I checked this morning ( 5 days out) even a popular show like , the Big Bang Theory has a generic description.

I hope that the reasoning behind this is because of recording problems and not because of incompetence. Ok rant over.

I'm seeing this one a LOT over the last couple weeks. I have seen as many as 6 recordings each of some heavily-repeating series.

I'm beginning to think its either the latter, or just plain indifference. We seem to be trending from bad descriptions to generic or no descriptions at all. I've seen some recordings where the only episode title or description given is just the episode date repeated. (i.e. the episode date, episode title, and program description all three show something like "4-28-17")

Thats Rovi (now Tivo). Its the same way on the Tivo's. Usually things more than 5 days out have generic info. :( It still works but the guide data has been a big step down from what Neilsen (Tribune, Gracenote) previously provided Tivo and Dish.

I was double-checking Forged in Fire recordings for this week and it popped up and said that the guide data on the hard drive was out of date and asked if I wanted to update it.

Didn't fix the recordings.
