I missed this somewhere. Winegard says the Traveler won't support HOPPER 3. Are you saying it can?
Sure, change the LNBF to a DPH Hybrid and disconnect the Hopper 3 from the dish while it is seeking. It will be easier using the DPH42, you don't have to change the LNBF head and you won't have to disconnect the Hopper 3 while seeking.

Winegard won't support a Hopper 3 on a Trav'ler but the Trav'ler does support the Hopper 3.

Each Hopper 3 is 16 tuners, so 2 x 16 = 32. ;)

(Whether thats actually a real or theoretical limit of the DPH42, I haven't a clue)
There is no theoretical limit. DPH is bandstacking everything on each output of the DPH LNBF or DPH switch, so it just depends on how capable is the receiver. You could theoretically have a DVR with loads of processing and storage that records all channels simultaneously.

Doesn't the DPH42 have passthrough ports? I think you should be able to cascade two more from one dish.

Here's the DPH42 Installation Guide:
Strange, I wanted to print out the DPH42 guide and all would print except the cover page with the
picture of the switch. (In my pile of paper work here, it would have been nice to have the picture
which would have made it easier to find.
Never mind, I opened the file with Firefox and then printed the first page from there and got it just
fine and in lovely color.

Works for me

Will I be able to connect the 118.7 output of this LNB to the DPH42 for my international channels?

Thanks for the response.
The reason I asked the questions is because the DPH42 installation guide shows the newer LNB with the built-in switch for 118.7.

I wonder about that too and don't have any answers for you. Maybe someone that knows more info about that can help. My 1000+ has the DPP LNBs only that has four coax to the DPH42 switch satellite input ports.

The DPH42 installation guide states that a Hopper 3 must be preloaded with production software U337 or later which I assumed is required for the Hopper 3 to recognize the DPH42.

The mixed receiver system diagram on page 9 of the installation guide shows Hopper (is this all Hopper models?), Wally, VIP and Joey receivers.

Does this mean that I could remove the DPP42 and DUO Node I currently have installed and install the DPH42 with my existing 2-HWS, 1-4K Joey equipment before I upgrade to Hopper 3s?

If so, is there a minimum production software required on the HWSs and 4K Joey for them to recognize the DPH42?

Thanks in advance,

Bob

When I installed the DPH42 switch I connected it to a Duo Hub then to two HWSs and one Joey 1. Ran a check switch test and every thing worked great. My dish is a 1000+ with the DPP LNBs.

The installation guide implies that VIP receivers could be in the mix but I didn't see how they connected. If you wanted two VIP 211Ks connected along with a Hopper 3 and a Joey how would they connect? Could you gang the DPH42 off of a DPP44 and connect the VIP 211ks to the DPP44 or is it something simpler?

That's what I would do. DPP44 to DPH42. 211's connect to the DPP44 and the H3 connects to a solo hub or tap for the Joey and then to the DPH42. Don't forget the 2 power inserters. :)
