ota dongle

I don't have the dual OTA tuner so no big deal for me, just surprised.
Dish can likely "see" if a receiver has the dual-tuner OTA dongle and if not, the latest s/w simply isn't made available to it. One post indicated that U235 was only for adding dual-tuner support. I doubt that's 100% accurate but if there are other changes/updates, they're likely very minor and not critical, hence no widespread rollout by Dish.

I don't have the new dual tuner dongle on either of my HWS's but upgrade to U235 manually installed on one, just not the second one so that rules out your idea of seeing or not seeing the dongle as the reason for not being able to upgrade to U235 on the second HWS.

Did you try pull the AC chord reset?

Not yet. I think I'll pull the plug on both and then leave the one that has u235 with the plug pulled and then try
the upgrade on the second one.

Did that just now and no change. Still at 234. Guess I'll just leave it alone and wait for the upgrade.

Maybe in a day or two I'll try the option to "Restore to factory defaults" and then try the upgrade again if it hasn't been installed over night(s).

I have a single hopper with the dongle installed. As of this AM I was getting the message about U234 being the current software. So the presence or absence of the dongle is not causing the problem. I have seen this behavior before. I will wait a few days before I panic. i suspect it will self correct in a few days and I will be able to do the manual upgrade.

Thanks. I will try that when I get home tonight. I am pretty sure they were but I have to admit I did not check specifically for that.

Yep, you need to have all the receivers off/standby and no recordings going or about to start...

I will check first. i am fairly certain they were off but like I said I did nto doa check first.

It did not work. Still t was worth shot. i will lt all know when it does---but will keep this in mind.
