i have this mini fta receiver with single usb port to connect a wifi antenna or a usb torage device but not both
i have tried many usb hubs but the device simlpy freezes
the os is a closed source linux based system
another usb port can be added but i dont know the technical skills to do it

The only place that will come from is the manufacturer. You need software to support the hardware change and since that is closed source the only place it will come from is the manufacturer.

Correct you will need to contact them and discuss that with them. Perhaps they can add it to their firmware and then provide you with an upgrade down load link.
I wouldn't get my hopes up though. Some are easy to work with and some won't talk to you.

The chipset SDK might not support hubs. This lack of support may not be an option for a factory or distributor firmware engineer to address.

Did the product description or specs indicate support for hubs? Did you try a powered hub? Micro STB hardware often doesn't have adequate power to handle multiple USB ports.

tried many hubs powered and non powered i even thought of using a hus designed for android devices but the micro usb to full usb adapter was not available
