I'm thinking about making the jump to the new Hopper. Currently I just have one Wally. Will I be able to transfer my recordings from my Wally's EHD to the new receiver?

Does the Hopper 3 "sling" like the old Hopper with Sling does?

The hard drives are not interchangeable so you can't transfer your recordings.

Yes, the H3 has built in Sling technology.

I went ahead and set up the install for the H3. With a 24 month contract renewal, I was able to get the H3 upgrade + a Joey 2.0 at no charge. So I have Flex Pack, H3, Joey, HBO and Cinemax free for 6 months for $46.99 a month plus tax with the price lock for 2 years. Now if I can figure out how to transfer my recordings I'd be a happy camper :)

I'm not sure if the data on the 211 EHD has a DishArc folder, if it does, you might be able to format a drive on the H3, place the H3 drive and the 211 drive on a computer running linux and copy the DishArc folder to the H3 driveand see what happens.

It's actually a Wally EHD, not a 211; is the process the same?

Just to clarify, the Wally and the Hopper are not in the same family. The Wally and the 211 are, being both single tuner non DVRs. The DRM restriction comes from the non DVR portion. The content has not been paid for as a recording option. That is why you can seamlessly go from a 612 and above to any Hopper from the same account, but solo non DVRs cannot.

Also wondering if they will have to replace my dish? Currently have an EA 1000.2 I believe, which my neighbor and I are both using. She has a single feed going to her 722 and I have another feed going to my Wally
