New Genie UI now in CE testing

Can't ...

Scott said DIRECTV requested none be posted here. See post #47 ...

It's a shame too since for the life of me I can't figure how to get into the CE issues pages on the Edgecutter forum to view them.

Even when I try to resign up for the CE group. All I get is some message about "There are no public groups for you to join."

And I still hit the same wall when trying to access the CE Issues or Announcement pages ...

.

Go figure ...
Have you tried posting your problem in the http://iamanedgecutter.com/forumdisplay.php/5-Forum-Requests or send PM to Stuart Sweet to see if it can be fixed?

I was able to view them there until the post that says dish doesn’t want pictures posted. So even if it was working for you it would be pointless at this time.
Oh ... Ok thanks ...

So it's irrelevant anyway then ...
Thought the ban only applied to open forums .. Not the closed CE ones ...

Yeah they were quick to remove any pics. Google cache didn't capture them either.

I get it, it's a work in progress... however if they want feedback then they need to send me a test genie. No way I'm risking our live environment on it. Wife would have a sh-- fit if something went wrong and things didn't work right. The only other unit I have is an HR24 which won't be getting the update.

Maybe I'll get it closer to release after more of the bugs are worked out.

I think someone said this new guide is the same as D* Now guide. All you should have to do is look at that guide.

Mine was one big loop, went to 60 and slowed to a crawl till it got to 80, then went back to 0 and started again, and again ....
I've seen Ground Hog Day one too many times.
Say I have a question maybe a DIRECTV tech here can answer ...

My HR54-500's HDMI output circuitry has apparently gone bad (picture and sound breaking up) and had a service call here yesterday.

And one of the things he tried around 11:00 AM PST local (it didn't help the problem) was force a firmware upgrade to the new NR currently rolling out during the night and early morning hours, 0x0D80, while the FW Watcher was reporting only 0x0D1E in the satellite stream of course. I also didn't notice him do the 0-2-4-6-8 on the remote control either.

Did he somehow force the HR54 to get the new NR over the internet? (Have Spectrum at about 120/20) As that's the only thing I can figure, but I didn't know that was possible on the HR54.

If he did I sure would like to know the secret , as the box updated very fast this time, whereas and I've been struggling since last Friday trying to pull down the recent firmware updates by satellite of both the new NR and the CE release containing the new guide, all to no avail. It's ridiculously slow and eventually stalls and times out each time.

All this time I thought you were a Directv tech!

The guys that install D* that I see from time to time always do the download after the initial set up ... I never asked how.
However, what I think they do is when it first loads it doesn't get the current software and the one the guys do after, gets it to the NR.
I think its just a simple reboot to be honest.

Remember the machine at the time is either new or factory reset.

I guess they are doing it early? When they announced the cloud DVR along with the same look and feel across all systems they said DTV would get it in the coming years?

And now dish has there new CUI(carbon user interface) pushed to all the Hopper receivers, so now D* has to make a quick comeback.

Your assuming this is the same thing or even related

Looks like they fixed the issue with HR44s not getting the new UI in the CE.
