Ok, I rescind my earlier statement about Discovery butchering the Trek franchise. Discovery isn't part of the franchise, it's an imposter. Intruder alert!

out of curiosity, have you actually watched it? Because none of your posts have referenced why or anything that's been in the shows.
I agree. As for watching, I'd continue to watch if it were available on a platform I already have, but it's not good enough for me to invest in CBS on demand.
You could always log into my DVR at home and watch it.... wait did I say that out loud?

I wasn't a fan of ep1 or ep2 but 3 I found better (for parts I watched)..
No idea. I don't dish.
Anyways..long story short it was cheaper to add cable TV (including a 4K DVR) and upgraded internet than what I initially paying for just basic internet and phone. Apparently there's an APP to remote to the DVR and watch whatever is recorded.
I never used/watched cable in the past 10 minutes up until Discovery started.
Dunno how it works in the US but am allowed to change the channels once every 24hours.. Add Space Sunday morning. then Swap it for CNN Monday morning etc..
We have tiered packages, not the ala carte bundles like they have up there.
If I really wanted to, I'd just use a vpn to watch it from Space's website, but as I said, they show while being okay, isn't worth the extra effort.

I have to second the comment about the bridge shots being shot at an angle being distracting. It is different if the ship is about to come apart (or is from an evil alternate universe) but here it is out of place.
I was also dismayed at the captain pulling a phaser on the first officer after she lectured her about actions in front of the crew just minutes before. Unless there is an open mutiny, there's no reason for a captain to do anything other than have her arrested. Captains don't have to make a case.
Speaking of first officers, NX-01 didn't have one and NCC-1701 didn't have one so why does Discovery have one?

Given the amount of carefully curated information regarding technology and timelines, how can they screw up pretty much everything?
There will never been a satisfactory explanation of why the Klingons look like characters from a vampire movie.
Not from a storyline perspective, but we already got an explanation from a licensing/copyright perspective. IOW, it couldn't be avoided (well, maybe except the vampire part).
While I agree that Discovery has a lot to be desired and I would hope the producers are listening. However consider that there have been other Star Trek presentations that weren’t done very well such as Star Trek V, as a person once told me “It’s Star Trek and it needs to be watched because it is Star Trek. Besides, there could be no new Trek to watch.
Regarding the Orville, I was pleasantly surprised. I don’t generally like spoofs and don’t have much of a funny bone, but I do like Orville. I believe it’s a bit like watching the irreverent comedy in MASH which I still watch and laugh at

Then make them more humanoid as they were in NCC-1701. Surely they can't copyright bushy eyebrows, goatees and Fu Manchus. The compound nostrils wouldn't seem to have much basis in natural selection.
Discovery seems to have jettisoned the science aspect of science fiction. This is made painfully obvious by offering up a science officer who seems to have a decided aversion to exploration if there is an iota of personal risk involved.
That is a trend that has been years in the making.
Remember when the SCI FI channel switched it's name to SYFY? From SCIence FIction to SillY FantasY. The quality of the content followed suit.
