NCAA Corruption

The players are young and naive..blame their agents and/or parents

I get that but they are smart enough to know you don't take money to go to college and play ball, plus if they are taking bids for their services, that makes it quite obvious. That is WIDELY known.

What I mean by widely known is, it is against the rules.

So, North Carolina skates by, I am SHOCKED.

I have come to believe the best thing to do is to end all college sports, as amateur sports (at least the big 5 sports) that is, because it is obvious the NCAA is completely incompetent and it is really no longer amateurish in any way. . Set up a salary cap for those who decide to go to college, escrow the money until they graduate, and pay them with interest. If they don't graduate, that money goes into that school's scholarship pool. Get rid of any rule that demands any athlete go to college before turning pro. If that isn't required for baseball, get rid of it for every sport. Let's quit pretending.

There is no rule that requires players go to college before they go into the NBA or NFL.

The NBA and NFL have a minimum age limit, with is 1 year out of high school for the NBA and 3 years out of high school for the NFL.

Basketball players can go to the NBA Development League or Europe if they want to play professionally before they're old enough for the NBA, and football players can always go to the Arena League or Canada for those 3 years.

And isn't someone starting an NFL Development League?

NO CFL team would take a teenager straight out of High School. While the CFL does not have an age minimum...import rules notwithstanding...its a headache teams don't want.

You're right, I should have used the age thing instead. Being from KY, I tend to associate the one and done thing in college instead of age.

I like the "baseball rule". In college baseball, a player graduating HS may:

- Go pro and play in the minor leagues.
- Sign at a 4 year college.
- Sign at a junior or community college (2 years)

A player signing at a four year college must stay at that school for 3 years (generally expressed as completing his junior year, as "red shirting" is unusual in baseball). At the conclusion of that year, the player may turn pro, or return for his senior year.

A player signing at a 2 year college must stay at that school for 2 years. Then he may either turn pro or transfer to a 4 year school and be under the rule as above.

I love the Cats, but basketball was better before one and done. The baseball rule gets the kids with no interest in school (or without the finances, as most MLB teams will promise to fund the kid's signing at 18 college education, should his baseball dreams not pan out) can get out of the NCAA system, and the college gets a serious commitment from the kid for at least 3 years.

I saw an article that now mentions Kentucky. That is the first time I have heard them mentioned

Player escapes me who many thought would not play in the NCAA because of the questions after the initial report came out last year. Since that time, I have not seen or read KY's name in any way.

It might have had something to do with Kevin Knox getting a free dinner or something like that.
