Short of buying an Apple tv (they seem to be most stable for Directvnow) found the cord at Wal-Mart to attatch from tablet or phone to HDMI then into tv. My question is how to keep device charged during use as it will drain battery fast!! Tried laptop, currently also use Roku, done multiple chats, even considering a Chromecast if it is more stable than current nightly connection issues..working on fixing that, blue square and laptop freezing for a few seconds. Done my homework on all known laptop chrome issues and time fixes as well as know I'm not the only Roku owner that has this issue. I have downdetector on my phone and look at messages left daily. Most are laptop and Roku users so I'm looking into alt methods as phone and tablet are 99% problem free. Thanks. Andy

We need some specifics about the phone and/or tablet involved.

Many of the MHL (HDMI) adapters for Android have a micro USB jack on them to plug in a charger. The cost is usually between $6-10.

Most of the Lightning to HDMI adapters also provide charging ports (USB or Lightning). They cost between $20 and $49. The Apple adapter and more than a few of the other Lightning adapters additionally require an HDMI cable.

Thanks. My phone, about 4 mnths old, is an LG X Charge. It came with a lightning charger, 2 pieces, adapter plugs into wall, micro piece from port on phone to the adapter (kinda looks like a USB connector that plugs into adaptor..of course this is android.)
Tablet is an Android RCA VOYAGER (Just uses standard micro piece plugging into it.) Hope this helps!

The LG X Charge does NOT use a Lightning connector -- it uses a USB OTG connector.

I don't think this phone supports MHL.

Unless something you have specifically says that the device supports MHL, it probably doesn't. Everything seems to be moving to Miracast and other Wi-fi casting technologies.

Thanks. Confused lightning with "Rapid Charge"...***too many different terms*** I thought it was the same thing. My bad. Thanks for your help

(realizing after reply this thread is about 90 days old)

When the MHL port on my Samsung phone was disabled (I believe an update did it) and I was used to taking programming from Netflix and Amazon Prime over to buddy's house who has no access to high speed internet, I bought a very inexpensive HDMI "miricast" adapter, and my phone mirrors flawlessly to his large screen in great quality. With most newer phones not supporting the MHL anymore, this way there's no more cords, no worry of phone discharging during average use, (but I do keep a standard charger handy at his place)..and I'm very pleased. Belkin Brand, it was an amazon purchase and I think it was around $20. The HDMI Miricast receiver does need power, but I leave it plugged in to his TV and power. All in all, a clean easy way to watch phone downloads on TV.

Meanwhile on a similar note, my older Fire Tablet (refurbished, inexpensive) from WOOT 'casts beautifully to my rokus and smart TV just fine with no special hardware, but doesn't speak "Miricast" so I can use the tablet at home if I want, but at the friend's house it has to be Miricast.

Don't know if this will help you or not....but Miricast is a good option where no internet network is available, and where cords would be annoying. Plus, it's portable like a cable for travel but with less "mess" overall. Shop around for best price and look at all options.
