can a plasma set be repaired

I have a 55" Samsung Plasma TV and tonight the old lady kept going on and on about some bullshirt and I got pissed and threw the Dish remote on the floor in the direction of the TV. The remote bounced up and hit the TV screen toward the bottom and now the TV wont do anything.

Does anyone know if these things can be repaired?

Perhaps, but it will likely cost more than replacing it with a new TV or a used plasma. The ugly part is that it will probably cost you more than $100 to find out if it can be repaired.

Make absolutely sure that the impact didn't jar any of the cords or cables loose from the back of the TV.

No, I didn't break the remote but I did make sure by using the Samsung remote.

Tampa, I may have to take the classes so I don't throw something at her.

If it was a Kuro or a late model high end Panny I would think seriously about the repair. Considering it is a Samsung I would trash it and find something better.

If the screen cracked and lost its vacuum, you would be better off looking at the LG 55" OLED models which can be found starting at $1,500. With CES 2018 going on and all the new TVs being announced, the 2017 sets will be priced lower.

Your story reminds me of a guy at work who's young son destroyed his Pioneer Plasma when he threw his Tonka Truck at Bob the Builder on the TV. Crack, zap, and off to Circuit City for a new one.

Unless she was in the room when it happened, the correct procedure would be to let her be the one to discover that it just randomly quit working.
